Replay of Wild and Crazy Epic 5 on 5 Pros Game

I just finished playing an epic 5 on 5 pro game and I thought I'd share with other Sins fans. I watched the actual replay this time, so I know it works. I'm in the game as Haywood Yablowme. I had a mouse problem early on and ended up playing with a mouse that lacks thumb buttons (which I use for move and attack), so I got off to a slow, noobish start. Fortunately I was in the economy spot and my allies weren't screaming for feed. Somehow my team won the game in spite of my mouse issues. It was a wild game that went back and forth. It was epic.

I really thought we would lose the game when we were halfway through and the teams were stacked against us a little bit. Derek and Dead Rat are excellent players and Greg and HuyMac are pretty good too. My team's best player was Auqia. Slackah Chiken and Devious did a bang up job. (Take a close look at the phase lanes around Slackah's starting position and you'll see that he was essentially in a pocket, allowing him and Devious to get a double on HuyMac. I was so caught up in what I was doing that I didn't notice it until I watched the replay.) I also had two planet kills via culture, one of which was Greg's home planet. I always chuckle whenever someone goes down to culture.

How do I watch a Sins replay?

If you've never watched a replay before, first you need to have the current (non-beta patch) version of Sins Diplomacy installed. Download the file and put it in one of your replay folders, preferably Record-Multiplayer. You can find it in your Sins Application Data folder. Instructions on locating it can be found in this thread:

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/363325

Once you have the file, load up Diplomacy, make sure that all of your mods are disabled, select Single Player, and then "Watch Game".  Scroll through the different replay menus until you find it.

Let me know what you guys think. I hope that it encourages some more people to get in on the fun of Sins online multiplayer. I don't think you could have a team game like that with just AIs.

I take this one on my head. 50% we lost because of me.

Although most of the game i was either doubled or for a few moment had 3 people attacking me I think what tipped balance to your team was me loosing 40 long range frigates to auqias flak. Although most of the time i played without HW and with culture at 25 percent after loosing those 40 lrms I couldn't really recover since after that feed was almost nonexistent or very small and ended up being just a number without any real chance to change the outcome.

I must say that i don't agree that teams were stacked in our favor since we had complete noob playing on other flank which colapsed as soon as it was attacked.

Auqia is one of best players around Devious and Slackah are quite good as well and they were doubling together whole game.

But yeah if i saved those LRMs we might have a chance but after they were gone it was basicaly 2.5 v 4 in team players.

You're a stand-up guy, Greg, shouldering some of the blame like that.

def was not stacked lol

we had a complete noob who didnt even know how to colonize

2 of his planets he got he never even took the tax out of negative and never built the mineral extractors

u also had the better map positions as huymac got doubled hard enough early that we lost him

so it was a 4v5 with one of the 4 being complete noob (so 3.5 vs 5)

i actualy think the fact we held out so long was a miracle

and you had the best player in there (auqia)

my mistake was picking that guy i thot he was smurf (aggravating)

I thought you were just being nice by letting us have Kbroke.  I do agree that your team got screwed over by HuyMac's and Chiken's starting positions.  My team got lucky in those regards.  The cheap POS 5-button mouse that I'd been using to game on a single core Sempron rig (and my laptop) at my folk's house (MSI Sniper laser mouse) started acting up, and I ended up having to use a three button Microsoft Intellimouse.  So, I spent some of my time early on adjusting the mouse pointer sensitivity settings and then I had to use two keybinds on my keyboard for move/attack (instead of thumb buttons).  That's why my opening movements look retarded, btw.  If I had been in a fighting spot and not an eco spot I would have been rolled quickly.

He could have politely asked the guy by /w if he was a new player or a smurf and what his skill level was.  I do that all the time.  If asked I'll tell people what my skill level is.

No offense but if you are going to be deceitful in the first place by hiding who you are by smurfing then you are certainly capable of fudging the truth about your skill level.  There are a few that straight out lie and say they are noob anyways when they are not(Star Player).  Who is to know if you are honest until you show your true colors.

I remember in one game DT-Tyr222 was smurfing. 2 min into the game he asks what is a magnetic cloud. And we all laugh oh what a noob. }:)

After singlehandedly killing 3 very good players   he comes out and tels us who he is,

So you see some players while in lobby act as noobs and it doesn't matter if you ask because they wont tell you if they are.

Lately I played game with ZOOMERS. We old veterans we all know who he was and what skill he had, Anyway he was on our team and while pretending he is comeback PRO he was actually above average noob.; 45 min of game as eco he managed 60 cred ps. Next game same guy was playing as DT Tyr 269. And if we didn't know that tyr had 222 it would be "anti" stacked again.

So tell me who to believe if you don't remember what names were/are exactly?????

Losing in a 3v1 situation is no shame whatsoever (unless you were getting crazy feed, which it sounds like you weren't).  I've been there myself; it's a moment of triumph when you pull it off, and a noble struggle when you don't.  You'll always kick yourself for the little mistakes that made the difference, but in a position like this you just have to take it in stride.  The fact that you were able to distract more than half of their team for a time means you were doing your job very well.

LoL if above post was directed at me.... I'm not kicking myself or loosing sleep over this game. There are always ifs and in this case if I kept my fleet we might have a chance after that we had none.

To be honest eventually AU would wear me down and would kill me alone. Thats the difference between elite and "pros" or good players players. Elite players make fewer mistakes and they can cash in every mistake opponent makes.

I've been able to sniff out star player many times, I can smell him through the signals :).

What is smurfing?
End of MageMatthew's quote

You know how you log into your Ironclad Online account first, then you can create "players" for online play? According to the manual this feature is intended for family or friends who would like to play online on your computer without being forced to create an ICO account of their own, but it is also possible to create multiple profiles for yourself for a variety of reasons. To do this as an experienced player in order to trick other players into thinking you're less skilled than you really are is referred to as "smurfing, and it's a frowned-upon practice.
