Mini dumps?

I just updated and now when I load a saved game I get a "mini dump" box that reads the install location and Diplomacy v1.2 2011-03-17-21-13-52-9264-6020.dmp and the game crashes. Any ideas on what this is and is there a fix?

Thanks jer

Did you archive or backup your original installation (pre 1.2)?

Without it you will be unable to continue your save game due to the changes with the patch.

If you did not backup there is no way to revert back to 1.011...

In the future a backup is as simple as copying your existing sins installation in it's entirety to a new directory and running the executable from there for old mods or save games.

Sadly I didn't backup.  So I suppose I'm boned until the next patch that may or may not address this issue?  Has anyone else had this problem?

Just to make sure I didn't miss-understand you...

Did you try to load a game that was started with the latest 1.2 patch?

If you weren't running any mods then you might send the dump to IC support email.

Or,.. did you start a game with 1.011 and try to load it in 1.2?

This won't work for anyone.

I built a game with galaxy forge, played it several times. Installed the latest patch, loaded my map to continue my domination of the universe....and then I get the dump message.

If I start a new game it works fine, it just won't load saves.

Nope, very few patches for any game will ever work with previous saves. Especially on that changes the game engine like this latest patch did.

Stardock Entertainment and Ironclad Games are very happy to present version 1.2 (final) to Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity/Diplomacy customers.  This is a major update for the game that greatly improves the overall feel, balance and fun factor that will help lead us into the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.  Special thanks goes to everyone who helped test the beta versions of this update and provided feedback to us.

Registered customers can update now via the Impulse client (http://www.impulsedriven.com).

Please note that v1.2 is not save game, replay or mod compatible with prior versions.

So does that mean that all saved games are lost and have to be restarted? Doesn't sound right to and if it is I'm glad Ironclad didn't make Fallout or Starcraft.

Yes, you should always finish your saved games before updating. Many other games are the same way.

Again, Sins of a Solar Empire is DRM FREE. Just copy your installation before updating and you can keep any save games, replays or mods until you are done with them. I doubt Fallout or Starcraft supports that!

Nope, and if I remember correctly, when I had to update them I had to restart their games as well.

I'm having the same problem. I'm not using any mods and I only started playing the game after all the updates were installed. No previous plays prior to any updates.
