Please reset ICO server

Please feed the hamsters, the lag is awful right now.  It takes a minute just to log in.

ROFL
End of ZombiesRus5's quote

I just realized my rofl could be taken either way :P

Really I thought it was funny people were saying the servers were downsized...

I mainly experience extreme lag in the chat lobbies. It does occur some in game, but atleast for me it rarely results in a unplayable match.

Everybody has different tolerance levels, also when it lags in the chat it also lags in games being played so unless poor connections can spread across all of ICO then the lag is most likely caused by the server somehow.

BTW Yarlen we appreciate the work you guys are putting into sins to make it a better game.

We're still investigating it, but the server's resources are barely being utilized at all.  I'm wondering where folks who are playing together are from though?  It could be that the distance to the server is a cause if folks from Europe are trying to play folks from North America or China or something.

That's a good point.  With most large games (4v4, 5v5) having players from different parts of the world, it does seem likely that some of the players would suffer internet connection-based lag spikes.

Sanchezz that does happen some games but ICO is still I believe the biggest cause of lag.

I've played with people over ICO that were in the same building as me, and I guarantee it wasn't our internet connection or computers that caused our lag....

It has nothing to do with distance.  It is definitely on ICO's side.  My bet is there is a problem with a router, switch, or firewall.  That or there just isn't enough bandwidth to the ICO server farm.

Yarlen, distance isn't the problem.  The problem is evident in just logging in.  Ever since 1.2 was released, it takes way longer to log in - for it to welcome you to Ironclad Online chat, or for games to be listed.  Try it for youself.  That simple act alone should show you there is problem.

One thing I've noticed now is that, ever since the 1.2 patch, when someone minidumps the game can either freeze up permanently or it takes much longer for game play to resume.

In my experience when someone mini dumps the game stays frozen till that player closes out of the game; with the game lagging like it has been people may be taking longer to realize that the game is crashed instead of lag halting the game for a little bit.

Even when you are in game and people that are on your friend list log in and/or change chat channels or just chat via /f game you are in starts lagging.

Lag depends on number of changes or amount of chat...

Just got back into Sins again a week ago, so i dont know what been going on lag-wise...or really anything-wise. A friend and I just like to do a large map, one sun very very few mods and we have had nothing but terrible lag. Overall its not really THAT bad, but the game freezing up for a random 5-30 seconds in at least as many minutes is maddening. First time ive ever lagged with the game too. Not once when I played before did i ever have an issue, not even on maps with 5+ suns and more then just me and my friend and 2 comps.

Just had to chime in my 2 cents. Would love to see some more info from the Sins people about this, I've gone crazy fiddling with routers and whatnot for the last week. I'm also going to highly highly doubt that my being in Boston has anything to do with the amount of lag I'm experiencing.

Just to chime in, we experienced increasing lag yesterday (locations: Utah and Ohio, USA) eventually resulting in not even being able to load the game (all of us would keep getting booted while trying to connect).  Another game, though, was working perfectly; we've come to the conclusion it's server-side somewhere.

Sometimes it lags, sometimes it doesnt.

The amount of people online and the distance doesnt seem to affect it tho

Random lag spikes

Maybe if we got all the kids in China to jump up and down at the same time then......

Wait....nevermind.....
