Creating/playing ICO account in diplomacy

I owned the original game and purchased the expansion bundle on Impulse, when I try to create my account to play online it immediately gives me an error stating "Disconnected from ironclad servers - Network error" while trying to create ana ccount. If I try to log in with my entrenchment account or any credentials it doesn;t tell me the information wrong, it just gives me the error notice I listed above. The confusing part is that I have successfully created an account and played a few games on entrenchment, I have no idea where to start to try and fix it. Thanks

Not that I can help, but I too am having similar issues. I just bought Trinity today (nice deal btw) and went to setup an ICO account from diplomacy. Same issue as you with the "Disconnected from ironclad servers" Did the standard stuff to check firewalls and the router. Nothing should be stopping it from going through, all the settings in the firewall are set to allow it (even turned it off just to make sure). Decided to try it in the vanilla sins, works just fine. Moved on to entrenchment, works just fine. Is the diplomacy ICO server down or something?

 

EDIT: also had one of my buddies try it and he cannot connect to diplomacy's ico server either. Did the space ponies eat the networking cables?

EDIT: nvm. seems the servers are down.... ignore the below... for now at least.

 

Ok you guys, try this:

go here:(for vista/win7)

C:\Users\<user)\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

open up diplomacy.user in a text editer.

and make sure these two lines are this:

IcoServerAddress "ico.stardock.com"
IcoServerPort 6100

If that doesnt work, try deleting that file, the game will regenerate a uptodate one next time it loads.

 

If none of that works, try a full reinstall from impulse.

Something is wrong, ICO is down right now.  I just tried to log in and I am getting the error.  I actually came onto the forums to see if anyone else was complaining or if someone had posted a reason (e.g., Maintenance).

Thanks Pbhead! Glad it's not just me. Also, is there a place to check out if the servers are up? World of Tanks launcher has a icon for when the servers go down. Does Ironclad have a server up down thread around here somewhere I missed?

I was on earlier today, but am also now experiencing the same exact issue logging on to ICO.  I get the same message stated above "disconnected from Ironclad Online" immediately upon hitting login/connect.  I hope it opens soon so I can play a game or two tonight.  IMO online issues like this are a major reason SOSE doesn't have a much bigger online following, considering it sold over 1.000.000 copies and at most 50 players are on ICO at a given time.  Hope to see things work out b/c the game rocks!
