500 Advent Scouts vs. upgraded Vasari Starbase
Who wins this battle?
500 Advent scouts
vs.
A Vasari starbase with the level 4 shield/hull upgrade (giving it about 8000 shield, 19,000 hull after some military tech tree upgrades) and the level 2 weapons upgrade (with 20% more pulse damage, 20% phase missile ability, and 20% more hull/repair rate on the tech tree) backed up by three repair bays and a small fleet composed of, say, 4 Skinatras and 25 Assailants.
The scouts of course don't do much damage individually but can in mass. (200 can knock down an upgraded capital ship.) Also, the starbase can only fire on so many scouts at one time (6 I think).
This issue came up in the post-mortem chatter of a game I played last night. "Why didn't you attack him?" "Because I was Advent and he had an upgraded (Vasari) starbase with phasic trap." "So why not make 500 scouts and attack it? The starbase can only fire on a couple of them at one time."
My money's on the starbase, even if the scouts kill off the fleet and the repair bays.
What if there were 600 scouts? 1000 scouts (which would be 2000 fleet supply)?
