Won't recognise disc

Just purchased brand new

Hello,

 

I just purchased this game brand new. A friend of mind played it first on his laptop and it worked fine. I then tried to play it on my main desktop computer only to find that after inserting the disc into my cd/dvd rom it made a strange repetative noise for about 2 minutes and didn't load. After looking in my computer it did not show that anything was inside the dvd rom, after double clicking the dvd rom it says insert a disc. So it is not recognising the disc at all.

 

I have many other games and they all work find so my dvd rom doesn't seem to be faulty, its just this game with the problem. The disc is in perfect condition, no scratches, but i have wiped it and air canned my dvd rom just to be sure but this happens everytime.

 

Does anyone know the problem?

Register on Impulse using cd key and download full game, install from hard drive. From what I understand anyway

Well, since the disk have worked fine the first time, it mean that the disc was good... try again on your friend laptop and if it work, it mean that something is wrong with your drive... if it don't work, it mean that something bad have happen to the disk ( UV from sunlight, or humidity with rapid change of temperature, or ... ) between the use by your friend and your own test...

Anyway, you can always use Impulse for install the game ( need a valid serial and register the game )... version installed will be the last one... and since sins don't have any copy protection, you can perfectly backup these updated version on a DVD if you wish...

Thanks for the advice. I will attempt to download it with serial key when I get back from work today. The disc seems to work fine but not on my computer. However my drive isnt faulty as all of my other game discs work absolutely fine. Really odd.

You have checked that you do have a DVD drive correct? This may seem like a silly question but what you are describing is what happens when you put a DVD into a CD-ROM drive.

Haha yes it is a cd and dvd drive and all my other dvd and cd titles work in it

I have downloaded impulse but am not sure where to enter a cd key and download the full game? I can download the demo but thats all i can see.

Go up to the blue box in the upper left hand corner. There the menu should have an option to register a product. Use that.

A slight imperfection in a disk can lead to failure to playback on only some devices.  There's an entire production line of Metallica's Reload CD(not a real loss) that has a glitched last song that wont play through on a lot of disk drives, typically being more sensitive to errors than the less stringent audio players.
