How many people still play this game online?
If so is it worth buying all of the add ons needed to play online?
Any information would be apreatiated .

There's a lot of people that play online. 50-60 usually. You don't need any add-ons to play online, but most of the action is on Diplomacy.
From 3-12 eastern (best time to find games in sins) there is an average of about 30-35 players online, 50-60 is moderately uncommon to reach on a weekday though sins will surpass 60 concurrent players logged in most weekends unless the server has been acting up.
Those numbers sound accurate, but they are tiny. The good news is that Sins is an awesome (and overlooked) game for online multiplayer PvP, and there are normally a couple 4v4 and 5v5 games every day on the Diplomacy expansion from around 2 pm to 11 pm U.S. Eastern time. You might want to consider holding off for the upcoming stand-alone Rebellion expansion which will include all of the content from the original games and its two expansions in addition to the new Rebellion content.
As of today there is one more player: I'm back! Just a matter of time until smurfs will piss me off again, but for now I'll give it a shot. Diplomacy armed and ready ofc.
smurfs should still continue to piss you off, they are as prevalent if not more prevalent then when you left. just remember, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

That's the one thing I'll never do. If there's anything pissing me more off than people who smurf and are proud of it it's people who smurf and start reasoning with "It pisses me off as well, but everyone does it, they stack me, boohoo, bla bla". So no, I'll stick to [_]-Azrak and Azrak
I tried multiplayer once online. Never again, my frient lives next town only 10 kilometres away and we had lag of tremendous proportions.
Since then we only played in LAN or over Hamachi. So for me it is a LAN/Single player game.
Also sorry for being a noob, but "smurfs"?
If you play diplomacy, the lag has been fixed. The other versions still have it though.
The lag really is gone in Diplomacy, now.
OK, then I will give it another shot some day, thanks for the info.
