Display Resolution and Diplomacy

I'm having a strange issue - regular sins and entrenchment run correctly at 1680x1050 resolution.

However, when I go to change the resolution in Diplomacy it basically blacks out my display for a while, the system seems to think it can't support that resolution and eventually reverts back to the 1024x768 resolution.

I checked the user.setting file and the resolution is set correctly there, so I'm not really sure what the issue is.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas on a fix?

Same here, except mine doesn't always revert...differs between different chapters too. Driving me mad!

Seems fine all the way up until I try 1920x1080, then chucks a fit.
