I do not agree with the immigrant argument. 

There is only a few corporations owning all the media and Rupert is by far not the largest. People would use this "owning to much media" argument to dismantle Rupert's empire and put the media into even fewer hands. Dumbest argument yet IMHO.

Police in some states are now allowed to data mine your cell phone without a warrant. If you think that these well dressed thugs will not sell information you're daft. One more goose step closer to a police state.

How so? its only a dumb argument if in fact the consolidation of the media continues.  Personally I hope that all his children would fight to tear his empire apart so that it is in many more hands, the more difficulty legally each child has fulfilling their ambitions destroying their family bonds so that in the end the media empire would be fragmented. 

The benefits?  A more competitive market, a media that is less controlled and censored.  The people win at the expense of a very few. Politicians will have to pay more to smaller media outlets to attempt to get the kind of controlled media coverage they had during the clinton/bush/obama years, making them less able to edit the media.

I am for dismantling all the large media companies into smaller entities.  Our government as a whole has been too monopoly friendly and it isn't doing its job when regarding implementing anti trust proceedings.  I see the fall of the murdoch empire as one step in the right direction, where many more steps need to be taken for the well being of our country.

If you want to become very rich and play the big game, there is always a big risk associated with it.  This does not necessarily apply to the common man, so any argument along those lines should be viewed through this lens.  He comes under such fire because he is a media mogul exercising control of information in a free society...you and I most likely are Not media moguls.

If for some reason you do not think the media is heavily censored, I would say again do some research. 

The reason the Murdoch empire has been under such scrutiny, is because it's threatened the liberal monopoly in the media.  Hence a bunch of liberals always being the ones complaining about it, while they ignore how massive the reach a company like GE has.

The BS between liberals and conservatives is only meant to keep people strongly politically divided in a time where those governing want to push a lot of terrible legislation.  Make no mistake, congress is not divided.  But then you might have to read the legislation, and it is easy to find cases where congressmen don't even do that on bills they sponsor.  If I had fewer scruples I wouldn't mind being paid a large sum of money to not uphold my constitutional oath.

Our market lacks diversity by having a few oligarchs who control their respective industries.  A true communist would encourage a further centralization of power, by wishing to protect murdoch's empire and put it in the hands of the state. 

It is painfully obvious that this empire is being used to manipulate mass opinion in elections, so it has in fact become a part of how the state operates.  Private citizens who have a larger vote then you, who are "more equal". 

This stinks of communist idealism.

This is not about ideologies at all.  Its about how do you want your market to be?

Personally. I would like to have my work to be reasonably valuable.  I would like to have a measure of job security.  When I retire, I want to live comfortably enough to have few worries.  Preserving large entities will only serve to counter these common desires because new schemes will be made to cut jobs, lower pay, increase turnover, and steal your retirement. Businessmen want to cut costs after all, and take a bigger piece of the pie.  There is a need for balance at all times in this, and the best way to balance a market is to let it rise and fall naturally.  No bubbles, no mass theft of public money.

The larger these entities are, the more they can screw you over.

This nonsense is and always has been bullshit.  So called oligarchs comprise a severe minority, and, in what limited form they have, are restricted to heavily regulated sectors, like broadcast, where assholes in government have created them.  Corporations as a whole only comprise about ten percent of the economy.

No, Mumbles is definitely a closet communist.  In theory perhaps, but in practice he's an intolerant ass that wants to take companies away from people he dislikes, squelches opposition to his loony left views despite having the same rude demeanor he claims to be filtering over, and hasn't met a government welfare program he doesn't like despite living in a picturesque example of a failed state caused by socialist programs.  I don't put him in a different category just because he wouldn't get us all the way there overnight.  We'd end up close enough to call it plenty fast.  If we got the last century of "progress" in two years, everyone would be jumping up and down screaming communist at whoever was in charge.  Anyone that wants more than we've already got just doesn't know they are.
