>2GB Large Address Aware Enabler [TEST]

SoaSE should no longer crash when it reaches 2GB with this (hopefully).

Most modern Windows versions (XP and upwards) and CPUs have a feature called PAE (Physical Address Extension). For an application to make use of this, it must have it enabled in it's executable file.

I HIGHLY recommend backing up your exes before attempting this, however.

I have edited this post as I have found an application that can do it which is much nicer, although this is still experimental.

See http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112556

Use the program to enable the "Large Address Aware Flag".

this only helps 64bit windows, and the engine is STILL hardcoded to dump at 2gb ram use even with the exe flagged, on 64 bit windows with 12gb ram in the computer.

also this has been nagged for over 2 years as a 'fix' for the minidump issue , but has NEVER helped.

if you want to see all the dozens of threads about this just search for LAA in the forums, but drop this idea as it does NOT work for sins, but there are other games it does help.

The thing is if you play Diplomacy you don't need to worry about the 2 gig problem anymore. As of the Diplomacy 1.2 patch IC fixed the 2 gig issue, and the game doesn't use more than 1.5 gigs. Max settings, any map. You really dont need TSOP, or any kind of ram fix for Diplomacy.

Entrenchment, and Original Sins is another story, because the Dip 1.2, and up fix's do not work in ether of the two previous versions of Sins. The Ironclad 2 gig fix works on Diplomacy ONLY. So Entrenchment, and SotSE still have the same 2 gig issue as before, because they were never updated. You will need TSOP to play those two versions if you get a lot of dumps, or have 2 gigs of ram, or less.
