The Carrier Capital Ship - SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BUFFED!

The Carrier Capital Ship - SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BUFFED!

Mind the sarcasm, but let me guess what your first capital ship is, oh yes, a carrier capital ship. Sorry why not make that two carrier capital ships.

>_>

Since people moaned for carrier capital ships to be buffed, that all we ever see in online games and its starting to become annoying. Before this buff, we used to see a range of capital ships, progenator, halocyn, marza, akhan, sova, skinitra, evacuator and even the kortul as recommend first capital ships, but no more.

CARRIER CAPS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BUFFED IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Can you please find a solution to this issue?

maybe decreasing strike craft in early game levels, and increasing supporting abilities?

(example) I want to see people using a wide range of capital ships to make strategic decisons, not spamming out capital ships and then star basing another persons home world within 5 minutes.

This thread is only here because I want to hear your suggestions, thoughts on the matter. I want to see people using a wide range of capital ships.

Now that I think about it, it would be quite interesting to see what would happen if LF were buffed so they had an 85% or 100% damage modifier against capital ships (instead of 50%), while at the same time the LRF damage-vs-cap modifier was reduced from 75% to 50% or so so that caps wouldn't be made even more (relatively) fragile by much. At the moment LRF are the general-purpose offensive unit when there are close nearby enemies, and because so many players spam a whole lot of LRF as soon as they can, good players rarely build many light frigates, at least, not early in the game (except if Advent). This change would make LF a significant more attractive ship even if they'll still be quickly melted by LRF - the increased ship diversity would be interesting. Combined with the LF's great speed, this would make them excellent cap-hunters and killers.

Not that I'm saying this change should be implemented - it would change general ship balance way too much at this point in the Sins development cycle - but it'd be interesting to see what effects it might have.

I've always wondered this myself.  But as you mentioned it would throw balance pretty bad, and disciple/scout spam would become that much more of a pain.

Advent is still in need of a bit of help atm though, right?

Don't buff or change other races. Address the problem, not the symptoms. I favor making Embargo a scaled ability as I have described in earlier posts but barring that, I throw my hat in support of speed reductions.

My problem with channeling is that the Sova is already a piece of junk in the late game. If it's channeling, the ability becomes absolutely worthless after the very beginning of the game.

As it is, embargo is relatively less useful in late game anyway. Channeling will only serve to make it less op early game.

Then perhaps it steals 20%/40%/60% of the planet's income and 5%/8%/11% of empire income on top of that?  That would at least make it more worthwhile later...

11% empire income is almost like level one pervasive economy.

Though the alternative figures for each embargo level seem more reasonable

Okay...  Perhaps..  3%/6%/9% total empire stolen in addition to the money lost on the single planet?

EDIT: btw, I never play as TEC, so I'd forgotten about PE being that low.

Its as simply as this, cut down embargo to: 20%/40%/60%

Lower speed of sova when using embargo

I really don't want it nerfed in both regards...

The ability stays as it is, but it should just be made a channeled ability.

Could everyone post their preferred race so we can try to figure out how biased we are?  I know we aren't deliberately trying to skew the balance, but...

I play almost exclusively as Vasari, but sometimes Advent.

Until recently, I played almost exclusively random. Now I'm specialising in tec

I play Vasari best, but I play TEC pretty good too.  I personally can't stand Advent, but I can hold my own if I ever decided to play with them.

Can we all agree that it would be nice if Embargo had some functionality later in the game at the expense of a nerf earlier on?  Perhaps by draining a small amount of total empire income?

If we can agree that it could use something like that, then why not just nerf the planetary one down to something like 15%/30%/45% and an empire theft of 3%/6%/9%?  It would be half as useful as a rush tactic, but it would be useful later...

Pretty sensible solution to me.

I could be wrong, but here is what i think:

The devs have neglected buffing the domina because they see the advent has op.

They see advent as op because (Red is what i see):

Vertigo: Chance hit 30%, cool down 30% (Rapture not really an opener and a victim to rushing)

Guardian: 33% damage spread (Vulnerable to ability disable without the domina but works fine)

Shield Mitigation Research +4% shield mitigation ( Requires all shield research to obtain)

Domina: Ability interupt e.g to stop emp  ( Has to channel and face target, doesnt have to last as a disabler so usable)

Guidance : Ability cool down ( Opportunity cost high to getting another cap-usable  )

Mass disorientation disables entire fleets including caps ( Starbase construction ship too expensive)

Is there a Culture Military bonus other than forcing opponents on using up military logistics for culture? How does this affect ships and how do u get it?

When all abilities are active (micro) = Ships receive little or no dammage at all.

If we concentrate on buffing all these key areas then its key to making the advent balanced:

The most notable consequence of them not having an econ is there suppose to recieve no dammage on paper but they need an econ to set themselve up:

Logistics is first and more econ bonuses via culture or other means. e.g an expensive trade port that produces 1.8cr/s

Head on over to the Rebalanced Races mod.  I address these and many other problems there.

Thanks. nice mod.. Im downloading it as i type this.

So we can use this mod for multi-player right?

You'll have no trouble assuming all players use it.
