Just came back to the game yesterday after about a year away; I was really looking forward to getting some of my favorite mods and having some large-scale space battles again.

I particularly like Kreyson's Battlewagons and started with that. When I tried to activate it, the game froze and I got a minidump error.

After a few hours of clicking through links and reading I understand that it's because every update essentially breaks mods made before the updates...something about the game files not compiling correctly with the mod. I also have a dim understanding that myfist0 has....put together some download packages which make it possible to play older mods again, but I have no idea how to get them to work.

I don't want to do any modding myself, I wouldn't have any idea where to start. I'd just like to figure out how to get other mods working. Are any of the myriad of links and information on this forum specifically for that? I can't find posts that deal just with that problem, either because I just haven't run across them or I'm too ignorant to know it when I see it.

Failing that, are there any newer mods out that will work without a lot of rejiggering and messing with editing? Anything that would increase fleet size is great.
