Sins of the Fallen: Fall of Kobol

* This mod uses some assets from Sins of the 13th Tribe (credit will be listed in the readme when released).

Quick synopsis

This mod introduces the colonial and cylon factions to the Sins of the Fallen universe. Both races will be playable with any of the planets, addons, and races included in Sins of the Fallen including the stock races. Both the colonial and cylon's factions will be balanced against the stock factions to support this approach.

Colonial Fleet

Relying on heavily armored and armed ships the colonial fleet is always on the defense looking for cylon incursions. Lacking shields of any kind Battlestar Point Defense systems are used to intercept incoming weapons and minimize damage to nearby frigates and cruisers supporting the fleet.

I agree totally. If you think the show is absurd then you ignore it. Like most Original BSG fans Dismiss, Ignore, and consider Galactia 1980 as non canon. I feel the same way about Star Trek Voyager, and Enterprise. Yet i used "some" canon ships from both shows to fill in gaps like the siege frigs, and trade ships, because from my point of view you can use a canon ships from bad shows, but use them for a different role than what was seen on screen. As long as it makes sense. then it is doable. It's your mod, and your decision. Make up your own story for why the ships are there.

Did you have to remind me of that unpleasant fact?  I can't believe anyone at SyFy thought this was worth spending money on.  I've already read through a massive thread on another forum about why it is so bad and I don't want to repeat that here, so let me just finally say it is a bad show, you shouldn't watch it, and you're not missing anything good by not watching it.
End of SpardaSon21's quote

Well, you would be missing the 10 dollar After Effects budget, stock Afterburn/FumeFX particles, and Michael Bay's handbook to post-processing success;

Step 1 - Shake camera arbitrarily. Always makes scenes more intense!

Step 2 - Add a lense flare over there.

Step 3 - Repeat until hardware limits are reached.

Also, lmfao @ the name "Syfy".

Guess I'm one of the minority that did really enjoy it; it doesn't make a great deal of sense why they'd degrade their ships between B&C and the actual BSG, and the green screen was obvious, but the effects were impressive, and it was nice to see additional ships (even if they did look odd). I enjoyed it. It would have been interesting to see as a full series.

I can second this; I feel the same way about mostof the ships from the Clone Wars CGI series. Some, such as the Devastation, are out of whack, even by Star Wars standards.

B&C wasn't "bad", but it wasn't that great ether IMO. They are trying to stretch the BSG cash cow as far as they can, but they don't realize that it is done, and over with. Time to move on.

I enjoyed B&C to the extent I'm a BSG fan having watched all of the original and revised series. The best of the bunch is the revised series unless you have some nostalgia paralysis with the original series.

BSG doesn't have enough Cannon works associated to it to really worry about. If anything a good B&C could add the proper back story and information lacking in the BSG world currently.

I have no idea if BSG online added anything as I can't get passed their ships that don't look like they belong in the universe.

I agree with you Z. It was good seeing a part of the story of the BSG universe that we haven't seen before.

What's not balanced?

I was wondering about the (almost) total lack of projectile weapons on the Cylon side.

In the show we see that the Raiders and Heavy Raiders primarily use projectiles with missiles only use sparingly as secondaries (most of the times those were Nukes used against bigger targets).

Also the Cylon Colony was shooting mostly with KEWs, or however the Cylon equivalent is called.

Were they all converted to missiles for balancing?

Best work yet Zombie, Loving every bit of it, even the small things like descriptions are so minimal compared to the sheer epicness the mod provides.

been looking for people to RP with using the mod.

btw the jupiter titan is also the same description as the cetus and a few things on the rebel colonial side tech tree are swaped like the flat tops.

Quoting ZombiesRus5, reply 1449Quoting Cylon_Luvr, reply 1447Just wondering when you plan to start working on the Cylons?

I have no ideas currently for their research tree. Until I do not much progress will be made.

Can I help with this?

I remember (a long while back) that I posted a lot of info summarising research for the Cylons... Do you remember Z?

I have several items documented and it was not a lot of info to create a research tree from.

Quoting Cylon_Luvr, reply 1453Oh.... Ok! Well that's not good! Especially when I have zero interest in playing as Colonials!

A full research tree requires around 140 research tree items. 30-40 of those are common fleet and diplomacy techs so no big deal. The rest all need customization from design (what they do), layout, labels, descriptions, icons.

Standard Tech Tree

Combat

Prototype Unlocks

Weapon Upgrades

Durability Upgrades

Defense Tree

Starbase, Hangar, Turret Upgrades

Non Combat Tree

Colonization Upgrades

Culture Upgrades

Resource/Trade Upgrades

Diplomacy Tree

Envoy Upgrades

Assignment: Fill in a tech tree

Hey Z.... so that I can start planning this out, what currently exists for Cylons? i.e. are they based on Vasari in the current mod? Has anything been developed for them so far?

@Lockerd, thanks man. I'm pretty sure I have the silly utility icons flipped right locally now and will eventually look at adding proper titan descriptions.

@-NORBERT- I'd be ok with adding KEW's to the colony and Boomer. What are your recommendations? I'm less ok with adding them to regular Basestars as there is no evidence they had any such weapons.

@Cylon_Luvr I haven't designed anything for Cylons beyond the capital ship ability concepts. The research trees are all vanilla and need completely redone. I'm just sorta fried right now coming up with new ideas for research names and descriptions so any advancement in their trees needs to be moved forward by the Cylon factions.

I can help facilitate this more if people like you are willing to step up with the details.

We can start with the Combat Tree

What is it's name?

What should the ship unlock sub-tree be named?

What should the weapon upgrade sub-tree be named?

What should the durability upgrade sub-tree be named?

What should Cylons call their ship unlock research items? Model would be one option... ex. "[ship name/type] Model", "Grants access to [ship name/type] - blah blah"

What special abilities should frigates have?

What would be good name/descriptions for KEW, Missile, Bombardment weapons?

What would be good name/descriptions for armor, hull upgrades?

What other upgrades would fit in a combat tree for Cylons (be creative, think outside the box).

Does the Resurrection hub belong in the combat, defense or non-combat tree?

I think it might be nice to keep the boomer all missile, but give the Colony missile/KEW combo, to give them some further difference.

I absolutely agree on the missile-only basestars, though as I said the Raiders (especially the Heavy Raider with it's 4 "nose guns") in the show used mostly KEWs.

As for the research, maybe the combat tree can be called "Vengeance". As I understand it, the Cylons began the 2nd war because they were still out for revenge against those that enslaved them decades earlier. I know the opeing says something about them having "a plan", but that might just as well have been a way to wipe out mankind, or make sure the final five are recovered before they annihilate the Colonials.

The sub-trees could be "Wrath" (weapons), "Conviction" or "Resilience" (armor, health) and "Innovation" (new ships and abilities).

Non-combat could be called "Evolution" with the sub-trees "Faith" or "Prophecy" (culture research), "Adaption" (planetary boni, ressource extraction) and maybe "Human-Cylon Hybrids" as 3rd, wihere the Loyalists have invasive research (like the Farm) and the Rebels cooperate with mankind.

Something like the Vasari Loyalist research that gives them a bonus if they are only allied with other Vasari Loyalists would fit the Cylon Loyalists very well too. Maybe call it "Superiority" or "Unforgiven".

Once again, very Advent. The ship-unlock subtree should be called "Model Design", weapon upgrade could be called "Armament", and I agree with your idea for durability... Resilience sounds good.

I like the idea of calling the non-combat tree "Evolution"... sounds good. hmm... not all models believed in the "one true god", so Faith may not fit. Will think about these other ones.

Z - I'm pulling together a detailed document on what I think needs to happen for the Cylons. I'm certainly not an expert like you, but I'll do my best. Should have this to you early in January.

Sweet, feel free to share when you get a chance. Don't worry if you get into Jan and don't feel it's complete. We can always refine from there if needed.

Anyone with other ideas keep brainstorming as it helps move the process along.

Besides "The Plan" I'm sure there are some other catch phrases that would make interesting research names.

"Are you Alive"

"God has a Plan"

"God is Love"

"By your command" - Was actually spoken once in TRS

"Humanity's children are returning home"

God's Will - If you would give yourself over to God's will, you'd find peace in His love like I have.

Crossbreeding Experimentation / Farms / Reproduction Research

Virtual Immortality -> Resurrection Hub

Projection - Hyper realistic day dreaming

Consciousness / Enlightenment / Reincarnation (Faith based beliefs)

Patterns - Lots of stuff around Leoben with this

Boxed Models - Increases loyalty by removing rebellious cylon models from infecting others. (reference when Galactica-Cavil threatens to box Caprica-Cavil for agreeing it was a mistake to attack humanity).

Excellent mod, it may be my friends new second fav. (He is way more of a trekkie than whatever a BSG fan is called.) You are very good at getting a workable balance. Its not perfect, but a good player can normally get around issues. I am still trying to figure out how to play rogue, though I need R6 as R5 is outdated.

I possibly found one small glitch I thought you might want to look into, as the CL faction I could not find the tech for making phase inhibitors. I could have overlooked it. I may have seen the same missing feature a while back in one of the other factions but I can't remember which and I think it got fixed.

One line from B&C can make a good catch phrase... "Just because your are more enlightened, Does not make us hate you any less".-semi organic cylon seen at the end.

Hello, I just got the Rebellion version of the mod installed and I seem to be having an issue with the randomly generated maps. When the game starts, there are no phase lanes. I double checked to make sure they were not just hidden. I played one of the non random maps and everything was fine.  Has anyone else had this problem?
