Maybe he's not afraid of the pros so much as he doesn't like the MP community as it is right now, with the 'pros' doing everything within their power to drive away the new blood? You ever consider that?

Just telling people to come play multiplayer and insulting them for being cowards is not going to help matters.

I have a very strong interest in growing the multiplayer community, but we should both realize that, for those new to multiplayer, it often takes 30 to 50 or more games for them to actually start to understand what the heck's going on, to become halfway decent, to know enough about the game to have fun competing with others.

For many, this is understandably a prohibitively high cost to coming online in the first place. Tens of hours of playing, losing, and not understanding much is a problem.

It's nice that you're advertising multiplayer, but in my opinion it would be better if you did so without the condemnations, and it would be especially welcoming to them if you also mentioned you'd be willing to offer help or advice if they do decide to try their hand at ICO.

(Or direct them to someone else willing, or me, or something like that)

 

How about you play with other people except skilled players? Playing with people with similar skills to you shouldn't be too hard. After a few games with non-skilled players, you might be able to hold your own sooner or later against skilled opponents.That way you can then ignore what skilled players suggest you to do and start thinking yourself.

Theres nothing wrong in taking advice off skilled players, sometimes you may need to sacriface yourself to take a more skilled individual out of the game. A colony ship will always mean you stay alive and colonize another planet, at a much safer location.

The problem is that something like 90 to 95% of those who come onto ICO are the regulars who will soundly beat a newer player any day of the week... and finding genuine non-smurfing newer players to play against can be difficult.

Those on ICO seem to be either friends playing comp stomps who can't be talked to, skilled regulars, or very bad noobs who play once or twice and never log on again. There are very few in the middle-skilled category from what I've seen.

This is stupid. i could probably kick your asses if my ping wasn't so high and i bet u'd say im a smurf 2. Didn't he already say he had experience with rts games from starcraft to sup com so killing assailants first, bringing in his cap then killing ski-carrier makes him a smurf? or going eco to build an army calls him a smurf;; damn mouse clicking probably calls him a smurf in your handy book for ico players.

Perhaps learning to read the whole post before commenting. How about that, SageWon? ICO is not, despite what you might think, the only online community that plays Sins. Also, i am not new to vanilla since, at all. Being new to ICO and not engaging this particular community dont make me stupid, or bad player. 

I might even regret getting on ICO, all this hot air is for nothing. The only reason i even bothered is because my many of the people i used to play with are missing or playing starcraft 2.

I noticed there is some casual players on ICO, and experienced players abuse them verbally to the point i wonder why they bother to log in anymore. It is not surprising that ICO is so small. That is said, not all new to ICO are casuals, stupid or new to the game or genre. So please, get over your smug sence of superiority and accept that other people also can:

1# read forums for tips and tricks

2# read description for what abilities and technologies do

3# can watch replays

4# do basic calculus. 

I know i cant beat 'experienced' player in early micro, yet. But dont tell me i cant do math and swamp even 'experienced' player with better economy.

And dont change the subject, this is still about how some players are being total asses to the new people. If you are new and suck, you never get to play with majority of people on ICO. If you so happen to even remotely know how to play, you get branded as name changer and become pariah who will be boycotted from games. Now, if you really were a name changer, you can go back to your old name, but new player dont have that option. And this is what puts them off.

Banana and riddle seem to be trying their best to unban someone that is at best marginally tolerated by his few friends.  One would ponder why they even care whether siddy is banned or not.  If they were not Siddy or DT themselves then why would they care whether or not Siddy is on their clan teamspeak.  It is somewhat suspicious that banana pitches himself as new to ICO but for all intents and purposes has no "skin in the game" to defend siddy.  Either they are DT smurf friends of siddy that don't want to be next on the chopping block in case how decides to "ban" more of his DT brethren or he is as people suggests, siddy himself.

Without more evidence I really think we should be giving BananaSpear the benefit of the doubt. ICO has low enough player counts already, and there's a possibility he's genuinely new to ICO (though not to MP games). Without proof, all this attacking him that you guys are doing may just make it less likely for him to come onto ICO again.

The timing of his post attacking Howthe and his entrance into ICO is more than a bit coincidental with what happened with Siddy, but even still, as long as he doesn't degenerate into Siddy's obvious racism and idiocy we should still be treating BananaSpear with the respect that a pretty good player deserves.

Or you could tell people in chat that you are new but relatively skilled despite your low number of games... even so, I think the only people (person) who would actively kick you anyway would be Howthe, I don't know anyone else who loathes smurfs enough to kick them on sight.

My involvement in this thread has nothing to do with this Siddy individual and everything to do how Howdidyoudothat behaved towards me on the first encounters we had.

Anyway... I say settle this with a good 'ole fashioned grudge match. I may be a former cop, but I like fights... why don't BananaSpear, howthe?, RiddleKing, and whoever else feels up to a fight log on to ICO and start a game with your choice of races on a random, huge map with pirates disabled? No excuses, no explanations, and no outside interference. And post the replays on here, for all to see.

If my appeal to community and my dissatisfaction of how you greet every new (not just me) player makes me jackass first class then so be it. However dont try resorton ad hominems when trying to argue your point.
