Sound & music

Hello,

Im new at this forum. Long ago i had my eye on this game but never got to buy it. Since last week that changed cause im playing the Trinity with great sheer of pleasure!! (steam sale).

It reminds me of Haegemonia although i have the feeling that this game has much more depth. Anyways, as i like the gameplay, graphics and as for the sound i love the impact sounds and the explosion sounds. Also the deel rumble of the craft engines are awsome. The music is not my cup of tea. I cut it off but then its just too quiet. Some of the spoken text are to lame for my feeling. Dont understand me wrong, im not trolling, just looking for a way to give this game more personal immersion. I have been looking trough the mod database, which is huge and i cant point out which mods are a must have. I would like to have a sound / music mod. Is there any good? Other great mods are also welcome!

Now im back on training again. Last time i played i accidently attacked the pirates :|

Welcome.

You can mod the music to things you like. Youtube under "epic music" has a lot of game songs.  Gears of War OST there has some gems, Audiomachine, etc.

I'd suggest go through some of the mods and see what they have.  It is a little bit of work but no overly difficult--compared to some other things you mod...*shudder*.

Yeah--them pie rats are nasty fellahs. They are always after mah pies and they grow in power if you just leave them alone.

Ah like pie.

Distant Stars changed up all of the background music and incorporates a couple of other sound mods.

If you haven't seen it yet and are looking for mods to play, stroll on over to Rick's Galaxy and have a peek.

Is there a sound mod (only) out there just to use as a quick template source for replacing sounds?

One of the sound mods DS includes is this one: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/320568

It's very old but should still work by itself.  (No promises though)  However, all it does is gives new sounds in place of the old ones.  If you want a template for adding additional sounds, then that's different.  Peek at the sound data file included with DS and you'll see that there has been a lot of additions for background music.  Other sound additions would follow the same set up.

End of Sinperium's quote

You could pull desired SFX out of the Black Sun resource pack and replace as desired.

Thanks. I have to get motivated but I am browsing through some sound and music files considering this.  It's easy to swap the files but testing them in game is tougher (for OCD perfectionists anyway) ;)
