Book based on the Storyline and (soon to be suggested) Creations of Sins of a Solar Empire

Hey everyone. I've been down through these forums often enough to see a lot of people want a better storyline, or campaign, or just overall plot to SOASE. I (some time ago) thought of writing a book about it and i plan on using all the names of ships (Classes, Randomized names, etc.) and i sent a letter to Stardock Entertainment about it, seeing if they want to put their 2 cents in about it and allowing me to use all their copyrighted names. Sadly, I have yet to hear a reply. But, in the meantime, I wanted suggestions from anyone who cares to allow thier ideas flow and I will write a proto-book for everyone who wants one. I will make sure i check this post every day to see your suggestions and I will get back to you all individually.

Right now I mainly have it based completely on the storyline given to us by Stardock. It's minimal but it's something to go off of. I currently have NO character names or anything. I'm at square one and have nothing but the forum readers, Stardock, and my imagination to go off of. Please be serious when you post a suggestion, I don't want this being clogged up with any of you idiots who think it's funny to make irrelevant remarks.

Because this will be a book, it will take a lot of manipulation to turn it from a plot-less game into a novel and many of you will barley recognize it when its done. And you CAN blame me if it comes out bad. I'm the author after all :grin:

ALSO: Due to there being a delay in response from Stardock, i can't officially sell anything, but i CAN give away PDF docs with a preview of what i have so far in the book. Currently: I have Nothing.

If i send you a reply or new email with a Subject: "PERSONAL CONVERSE" (DO NOT NEED HYPHEN) then it is about either a converse just between you and me or a converse about a certain part of the book or charachter or anything.

PLEASE: do not send me an initial email with either of those 2 subjects. i am setting up filters for them and i dont want these getting mixed up. and make sure when you send it or reply the the subject is CAPS with the hyphen  -  .

Someone should also write "The Fall of the Vasari Empire" a story of the exodus of the Vasari as forced on them by the Darkness, or another race that would be the Vasari ancient enemy.

I think something like that story would go under the "Creation of Sins" part in the subheader of your topic.

Anyone can write and propose whatever they wish. If different people want to focus on different portions, they can try to make a cooperative effort. Something like an Advent bible would be a far different writing style than what The-TEC-Empire is aiming for and the Fall of the Vasari not only might require a different style, but also crosses into a realm of canon that other stories wouldn't.

So it's really a question of passions and tastes.

also with the "Advent Bible" and "Fall of the Vasari", there are at least a couple million people playing this game and at least half of them half there own interpretations of what each of those could be. I sure as heck am not going to listen to a thousand fan-hate mail saying "The advent didn't tourture people! They where doing psychogenetic enhancments!" or "The vasari are being chased by overreactive nanites! not another ancient race!"

thats why i am doing this on the set and stone knowledge of the CURRENT SOASE that we play TODAY. its a lot easier for one, and i'm going to get a hell of a lot less hate-mail.

As far as content is concerned, I really like to see how the common people of each faction live.

You know, from the perspective of the minor civilian character who doesn't survive the whole book cause his planet got pwnd.
Really show how destructive and hellish the war is.

I like this idea, and I'm willing to collaborate on writing such a story from a TEC civilian perspective at least.

Or I could do is in-depth analysis's and short story for each of the technologies that are researched as codex entries at the end or beginning of each chapter. Flesh out the universe a little bit more.

thanks but no thanks. feel free to put you're ideas out there, but if 2 people work on the same thing, there will be inconsistencies in the text and that will cause confusion. its why you don't see many books or series written by different people.

same with the technology bit, you can write them, but i would end up having to follow it whenever i refer to them in the book. that would be to much work. it IS a good idea tho, no doubt about that. be nice to have an explanation on how the technologies manifested.

as for the perspective, that has alredy been agreed upon. TEC civilian, Advent rebel, Vasari warrior, plenty more. if you can think of something you feel is outside the box, please express it. i welcome any new suggestions.

I am back in school right now so any work on my book has had to stop, sorry.

do not stop sending ideas and suggestions, the more the better in my book (figuratively and physically in the book)

Maybe something about what happened to the Vasari? Why they are lashing out?

Rebellion in each race as an intertwining story?

Definitely have the Vasari assault and have the Advent arrive at the worse moment, then go to TEC entrenching and seeking peace, then to rebellion and maybe end with whatever is hunting the Vasari saying hello, and of course everyone either flees or dies.
