A One ship Mod?

Before you say make it yourself, on a good day I have trouble updating existing mods. |-)

So I'm just throwing this out there..

Could Sins be made to upgrade just your ONE ship? With each upgrade just a incremental addition or upgrade?

7DS had this sort of idea for the Arilou, who originally could only build their Mothership.  Mothership was able to colonize, spawn 2 different "Return Armada" type fleets and 1 colonizer that could deploy via antimatter 3 different ships.  They can still only build capitalships, use free deployed ships (no fleet cost and expire after a time), and spawn like "Return Armada" ships with fleet cost.

Their line-up originally -1 capital mothership, 1 attack capital.

Current:

Mothership -colonize, 3 spawning abilities
Skiff -battleship
Obliterator -anti-starbase/module, spawns antimodule frig
Remorse Siege -deploys siege frigs
Gatekeeper -deploys 4 different types of ships.

SOASE requires a player.entity file to have present all ship types -heavy, scout, light, utility0, utility1, etc... or the game dumps hard, which happened initially until Dan figured that piece of the puzzle out.

Hey--I am making a one ship mod...the Yggdrasil. (they actually have other ships but they are all identical egg-spores that just accompany it.

It will "infect" other ships and convert them to eggs--which in turn can infect other ships.  It does not use credits and cannot colonize--having only a single custom world type as a HW, "The Nest".  Still some a bit of work to do on abilities and texturing but the model particle effects and some of nthe abilites and concepts are already done.  The mod will be called "Fourthspace".

Really? For the longest time SoGE lacked a Siege and AntiModule frigate, and it ran perfectly fine. There was even a time when some factions lacked an Lrm or Carrier frigateRoleType. You sure the issue wasn't something else?

I thought it had to be done as well--and even if it worked I'd be leery.   I simply have a single model used by all the ship types and have them reduced to a single weapon.  I do allow differing armor and shields to simulate "adaptive hulls and shielding" and the weapons do differing damage to simulate the maturity of the "egg".

So a two ship mod actually.

I'd love to get a clarification on this though and also to know if planet modules are removed what the effect is.

Fingers crossed..I was going to do Fourthspace last but several modeling people asked me if they could work on the ship--go figure.  So looks like it will happen faster than I thought.

I'm not sure how to fix the texture for Sins unfortunately.

FYI--the ship is about the same dimensions as the Psi starbase.
