still performance issues with trinity 1.2?

hey,

i played SOSE - trinity over a year ago and experienced some serious performance issues once battles got huge. i read through the forums and knew that it wasnt just me who had those problems. now i read about a new patch(1.2 for trinity). yes its out a while, but i spent the last year abroad. the patch claims to improve memory usage and the performance. is that true? is SOSE playable again, or is the big performance issue still there? i cant test it right now and i will wait till rebellion comes out to play the game again. thats why i ask instead of just testing it. hope u can help me with that. :-)

The newest Trinity patch is 1.34, and things run pretty well given that your computer is decent. There are still annoying minidumps now and then though.

thanks. so given the same computer it is now way better than before? i dont care about a small difference. before 1.2 it wasnt playable after a few hours. i dont mind occasional fps drops, but did they fix the big, well known performance issue?

Well if you play games for more than a few hours, of course you're going to run into serious problems, especially in large maps. Games aren't supposed to take that long. This is a real-time strategy game, not Galactic Civilizations... that said, minidumps are somewhat more uncommon from how they were before, so I've heard, and desyncs are extraordinary rare nowadays.

i wouldnt mind to restart the game each hour, but SOSE is indeed a game that is supposed to take longer than a typical RTS. but good to hear that they managed to reduce the lags. i will wait till rebellion comes out and give it a new shot.

Trinity takes significantly less memory to run and quite a few memory leaks and unnecessary cpu cycles have been fixed than pre 1.2. That being said however, a strong CPU is still highly recommended as that directly affects the quality of the game. I regularly on normal settings run the game for 6-8 hours without any issues. When you start increasing the game speed you increase the cycle load on the CPU which slows the game down sooner.
