Haven't installed any mods or anything. I read that they can cause this problem. It was with the max number of AI on the huge multi random map with highest graphics on- maybe that was too much?
Some can, but that shouldn't be the reason not to use them as many expand the fun and enjoyment of the game. They're not really used online though because most ICO players aren't in it for the shiny new toys a mod can give you, and sometimes it's just too much of a pain to get checksums to match up perfectly with everyone.
Try lowering your graphics to high or medium. Maybe even play with bloom off. If your issue was caused by the graphics, you shouldn't crash anymore. If you still are crashing, try to take a mental snapshot of everything that is happening before the game dumps so that you have more information to provide.
