I just meant to correct the thought that all the images needed to be on a single sheet which amongst modders is not telling them off as we all learn from each other.

1.) Yes, the amount might seem excessive by 2 days but as a dev I DO know from experience that things always go haywire. The 2 additional days are there to fix this.

2.) I'm not sure I like the attitude you have to others. Might just be me but you give the impression of thinking to have a greater right to speak on such matters (who shall do and ask for what and what is important and what is not) than others. I'm not sure I agree. I started programming at the age of 5 and don't think I'm in the position to argue as to who has more right to claim features or fixes.

3.) Updates always break our mods. Will happen again, no matter what. If the outcome is more variability I can't think of that as a bad thing.

4.) I do think that the race pictures are an additional level of immersion. While some of you might say immersion is not necessary in a strategy game my opinion differs.

5.)  As to the two-coloured icons and your sarcastic remarks on them concerning me, need I take you serious on your sayings? When I try to tell someone why his idea (JCD) might not be implemented I do try to educate the person as to how much time is involved to give them an understanding of what the costs involved might be (especially for an issue that is no bug but an inconvenience). If you could've and would've done the same maybe JCD would have taken your point to heart and you wouldn't have started a flame war.

Back to the icons, I don't think them necessary but they would not bother me if they were there.

Please Stant123, you may or may not be knowledgeable in the fields discussed here but you should have no reason to behave the way you do towards me or others concerning insults. I think the whole point of this topic after you sift through all the BS is can individual pictures be used for each faction instead of "picture sets"? The answer is YES. However. It may, or may not cost you more resource wise (cpu/ram) to do this (depending on "how" you do it). The picture sets may be more "cost effective" depending on your point of view. It was from the Dev's point of view. We as Modders have already done new UI. Myfist0 already explained how individual pictures could be done. The only real question is will it be worth the risk hitting the 2 gig limit to do this?

Despite that, Sins being IC's first game i expected some "issues". Still it is much better than many veteran gaming companies horrible efforts.

Never disputed any of it (again, you agree with me, that the estimation is probably a bit excessive) so don't be so rude as to assume I need it spelled out again.  I'm not arguing with you.  You're agreeing with my argument and then arguing with me about it.  Why?  You estimated 6 to 8 days, I said that's probably a bit excessive, I never said it was by two days, don't tell me that I said something that I didn't say.  If you don't agree with the estimate, then change it, it was yours after all, not mine.  I'm a modder here too, have been for a long time, don't keep coming here and talking down to me like I don't know what's going on when something changes.  Again, it's insulting to us both.  I know things go wrong too.  I'm the one who is usually fixing the issues for the community at large.

I know I don't like the attitude you're giving me.  I don't have any attitude towards you or any other modder.  If you feel that way, then you need to re-evaluate yourself and then reread my statements without adding in your own bias or emotions because I can assure you, I didn't write my statements with any just as I'm not typing this up with any.  I have attitude to JDC because of the way he was acting and treating everyone else, thus I treated him in the same manner, which is to say with rudeness and disrespect.  He's calmed down and I have backed off.  You see how that works?  Go ahead, browse the forums and you will see exactly this.  I explained the flaws in the thinking behind the original idea which makes it impractical when there are other more important things to be worked on.  Honestly, have I said anything that is wrong when it comes to this game?  Please, do me the favor of pointing them out and I will correct them immediately.

Whatever impression you're getting, I can assure you it's just you with that impression.  Seriously bud, read this thread.  I'm not running my mouth off, every idea that has been proposed was proposed by me and then expanded upon by someone else.  As for deciding what is important and what isn't, every single time I've said the picture sets aren't broken and there are other things that are broken that should take priority.  Am I wrong?  Didn't I post a solution for JDC that requires no changes at all?  Did I not say the pictures could be changed over to the icon system to make it better?  Is that more important then doing something like, oh I don't know, fixing the force from spawner effect so that it works with a negative value like the real devs of this game said they fixed years ago and it still doesn't work?  Black holes would work so much better if it actually did work.  You know, I tend to think that things that were claimed to have been fixed that weren't should take a higher priority then things that aren't broken.  If that simple logic is to be the deciding factor on if I should be treated as an authority on the issue, well, then I guess I should be treated as an authority on what is a priority and what isn't.

I haven't been a programmer since I was 5, I did other things in life, I don't even consider myself a programmer now even with all of my experience.  It's good you don't think of yourself as someone who is in the position to argue as to who has more right to claim features or fixes, but don't come here and try to make it seem like I did.  See my previous paragraph for what I did come here and say.  Then do me the favor of reviewing my comments in their entirety so as you can verify for yourself that I did in fact not act like that.  And please also do me the favor of not putting words into my mouth or adding in your own emotions either.

Not all updates break our mods.  I took over Mad Scientist and updated it to diplo 1.32.  The 1.33 and 1.34 updates did absolutely nothing to it.  I've worked on the Total Effects mod and there again, I updated it to 1.32 and the 1.33 and 1.34 updates did nothing to it.  I work on Distant Stars and the updates did mess it up because there are menu tweeks included in the mod.  Point being, updates don't always break mods, and it may not happen again if we don't get any more updates.  And I agree, if the outcome is more variety, it isn't a bad thing, and I'm glad you said this because if you would please go back to reply #65 the sentence following the wink with the tongue sticking out, you will see where I did already clearly post this exact same sentiment, so I'm glad you are still more then willing to come on here and openly admit you are still agreeing with me.

Never said anything about immersion not being necessary, please, again, don't say things that weren't said just to make your argument look better.  I feel they are unnecessary considering we have a ton of faction icons, but here again, I did clearly use wording to convey the message that it was an opinion of mine, it is shared by more then just me, this I know for sure, and you shouldn't be keying up on it as an argument point as I have also already openly admitted to supporting as well as using custom faction pictures as per my previous statements in my last paragraph in reply #9, and would continue to do so if the system was changed up as per reply #65.  I'm going to be as absolutely clear here as I possibly can so you cannot confuse my meaning:

I don't dislike the pictures, I wouldn't even care if the system got reworked to make it like the icons and thus a better system, what I do care about is spending time on something that isn't broken where there are things that are broken, this being one of those not broken, easily remedied on the player side, things, that in the grander scheme, could be gotten rid of all together as it is extra when compared to the faction icons and would save on memory loaded into the game while it runs.

That is the core of all of my statements on the issue thus far and it will not change and you would be hard pressed to argue the logic.  I mean, you could, but it's foolish because it's not wrong.  I don't expect everyone to agree with it, because as a dev, I know not everyone will and I've heard my fair share of grief/praise over choices I've made.

I did try to educate him on this as well as his other threads, but again, as I said in reply # 65 which I will be so kind as to quote here since you may have missed it in your crusade to prove something to me: "I just didn't care to get into an overly detailed explanation of how to make it all happen when the person I was talking to wasn't interested in listening to anyone who didn't share his own opinion and my reply had already been going on for long enough."  That's a very key point to note as with all previous explanations, he went off ranting about everyone and everything, including on forum administrators, even going so far as to rubbing it in that he got a temporary ban reversed by another administrator.  Did you know about any of that?  Did you bother to figure out why most everyone here was acting the way they were?

I could have, and probably would have, if the person I was talking to wasn't being such an ass to everyone else.  As I've said on many occasions before, I will always give someone a well thought out concise answer to any of their problems and go the extra step to not only troubleshoot, but also provide a fix for them, in my mods, or anyone else's mod, with the core game, even pass along said fixes to the proper people in charge of making them more permanent.  I stand by this statement, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Case and point here is reply #5, even though I was dealing with his antics in other threads, my answers cannot be considered anything but polite, concise, and helpful.  Reply #7, JCD became argumentative with me unwilling to listen to what I had said.  Reply #9, I was STILL polite, concise, and helpful.  Reply #15, he's basically begging me to come back and comment here calling me out by name, and in reply #23 he's back to being downright rude and obnoxious to everyone, including those of us who are just answering his questions.  I didn't start the car thing here, I just answered the questions figuring it was all probably BS anyway, but in the off chance it wasn't, I may be able to be of some help.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the one being rude to everyone in reply #26 before I ever said anything rude to him?  Also correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't I keeping my commenting specifically to JDC himself until you started getting on my case?  You're going to be answering yes to both of those.  You're not my mother, I don't need or want to have a behavior lesson from you just like I wouldn't want one from her.  Do yourself a favor, a little friendly advice here so you don't confuse it as an insult or something, you want to keep things professional, then don't you yourself get rude and then bitch at others for being rude as well, and definitely don't be trying to enact behavioral modifications on others when you have no business doing so.  Ryat apologized for his comment, you never did for yours.  Don't act like a moral compass when you fail your own expectations.

What you need to take home with you from this section of my reply is that I in no way shape or form started a flame war as you accuse me of.  I was pulled into it.  You should probably spend some more time actually reviewing what has transpired before you insult someone by calling them out and accusing them of something, because when they come back and can easily prove you wrong, you look foolish and you could quite possible lose some of the respect you've built up over the years.  Honestly, I could say you're going out of your way to pick a fight with me by replying back to me in the manner that you are even though thus far everything you've said while trying to make your points is something I have already said, but as I have no interest in you or what you're trying to do here, let's just say I'm giving you the professional courtesy of being polite in my responses even though I really don't have to at this point.

I am very knowledgeable in the fields discussed here, as most everyone here knows who I am and knows that I am pretty darn good at what I do.  I've provided help to some of the people here and they have done the same for me.  I'm a frequent visitor to MyFist's Weebly and Zombie's eclipse plug in pages.  I've already stated the mods I work on actively, but what I haven't yet stated is that even though I may not be an active developer in many other mods, I am still a valued contributor, and I provide 'tech support' for all mods, not just my own.  That's enough tooting of my own horn and I'm actually slightly embarrassed that I have to do that, but it's only apparent to me that you don't frequent very many threads on this forum if I have to be explaining this to you.

I am not and have not ever been insulting to you or any other modder. (Unless Carbon or Draak deserved it.    But they're big boys and will respond accordingly adding to the fun.)  If you feel that you have been insulted, then please go back and reread it without your own personal opinions and bias.  You will see that it didn't happen.  I was insulting to JDC, but if you would be so kind as to actually read this thread, you would see that he did deserve it, especially when the context of his other posts are included.  And I will state it again, you were rude to the rest of us long before I said anything to you, you even started getting on my case long before I said anything to you...  You want to talk about poor behavior to others, look in the mirror and fix that person first.

I do go by THE Golden Rule.  It's not my golden rule, it's THE Golden Rule.  My golden rule is don't ever fuck with one of my daughters or I will hunt you down and I will be bringing a giant ass kicking with me when I find you, but that's pretty much a rule that all people have concerning their kids, especially their daughters, so it really isn't even my golden rule as it's kind of universal just like THE Golden Rule.  Please be so kind as to point me in the direction of a post where I started a flame fest or just openly insulted a random person because I just wanted to?  There actually was one recently and I apologized to that person and we're good now, outside factors were involved and it never went beyond that.  That doesn't characterize me, it just means I had a really rotten day, which Carbon, knowing the story can vouch for me that it was a really rotten day, far worse then what most of you will ever know or go through, and it's personal and I don't want it discussed publicly.  But he can verify that statement having been told what happened.

And you didn't 'just' point that out, if you did, then my replies to you would be much shorter, pay attention to what's going on.  Personally, you've already disrespected me enough to get me to not care about your opinions any more seeing as you've accused me of things I didn't do and I've proven I didn't do, and the only one here that is losing respect is you.  Everyone here knows what they're getting with me.  Most everyone here respects me, some people here even send me after problem posters on purpose because they know I'll be more then happy to put someone in their place as soon as they start getting bitchy with me.  I'm very upfront and forthcoming with the way I am and have always been that way, but you sir, you are trying to pick a fight with me that would only lesson everyone's opinion of you.  Some more friendly advice...  Don't do that.  I never lose unless not getting laid is a result of winning.  ;]  And you're not my type, so... 

So like I said the last time, I'm not a newbie modder, I've been doing this 16~17 years now, don't treat me as such, it's insulting to us both.  I will continue to treat people on here as they treat me, and I'm done dealing with you until you acknowledge you wrongly and unfairly accused me.
