Anyone have any luck against Cruel AIs?

All AI's cruel and against you. Medium Galaxy, is this even possible? How they manage to rebuild their fleet so fast and keep attacking you. Invade a planet of theirs and in comes their fleet, its always bigger than yours and has advanced ship so early in the game. Not sure where they get the credits, does the AI cheat?

The Cruel AIs do cheat when it comes to resources and credits and I think maybe on research. Not sure on the research one.

Thing is thats the only difference when it comes to the other difficulties except they maybe move a bit faster in terms of decisions. Just set up a fully upgraded SB at a major choke point with repair bays, phase jump inhibitor, and station your fleet there and you really are good when it comes to defense. From there you can just tank all their attacks and possibly farm quite a bit of exp for your capitals.

AIs always have the tendency to just suicide on your SBs. This isn't online where we would actually just go around.

Heck you can do 9 Cruels vs 1 with this. IF you pour enough research to defense in armor/shield upgrades as well as give a few weapons upgrades.

Cruel and Vicious do get an AI research bonus.

Heck yeah. Pretty much all RTS AIs do at advanced levels. It just doesn't become too obvious until cruel because they spend so many resources on stupid things.

If you mean you have them on locked teams against you, yeah that won't be a fun battle. Its still quite possible because even with the extra resources you can expand faster than they can and the AI has no clue of how to defeat highly fortified positions. Given enough time you can wear them down, but I wouldn't have much fun doing it.

I can manage a medium-large random galaxy with the other 5 AIs as Unfair, but I cant handle a medium galaxy on Cruel. Its too much for me. As fast as I can expand and fortify, they can do it faster with a much bigger fleet. If you can handle this I tip my hat to you. Plus the damn pirates attacking me early wastes my time

Most players don't play with the pirates on. ;) Doing it on 3 cruel AIs locked against you will get the raid sent on you every time.

Usually I let the MP players say these things, but multiplayer is where you need to go for smarter opponents. Of course they don't get a research cheat but it will probably still feel cruel because when humans attack they go for the kill.

Ive no doubt Id get decimated by another human. How can you defend when they just go around your starbase. Defeats the whole point of it

Gives your fleet and planetary structures a safe zone, and if they choose to jump out of the planet completely they will take a bit of damage and lose all antimatter. AKA they're sitting ducks if they try to go around a starbase and meet a good fleet on the next phase jump. But thats not a mistake that happens very often in multiplayer.

It is common practice to scout out your emeny before making any attack.

Also get a colony capital ship for rapid expansion. You can use turrets to kill all the others but make sure to get those siege frigates first.

Its possible to take out 7 vicious, single star, all allied against you.  Takes a really long time. 3-4 hours

Playing against AI is one set of skills that does not translate to playing against humans. Once you get the basics down go online. Lots of newer players around to learn with.

Watch replays. Best teaching tool

Pro players can take down those AIs, but the only way to get to that skill level is to play online multiplayer against real human opponents ("the real Sins game").  If you're at the point where you can easily manhandle the Hard level AI and beat the Unfair level AI with few problems, then you might be ready to advance to online multiplayer PvP.

I would like see reply of that. Heck I would like to see reply of you against 4 vicious allied against you. You are talking about random single star right?

I can beat 2 on most maps. Still struggling with 3.
