Is there a noobs guide to modding???

thanks for your response.

After following the instructions on 'placing mods' I can now see the mods as 'enabled' in the Mods section of the game menu but cannot find out how to run the mod from there.

The mod I am trying to run is the star trek mod but the game has not altered since the mod has been enabled i.e no klingons, federation just the three original races.

Make sure you have the files set up right. A lot of new ones sometimes double up the folders (as in /modfile/modfile) and this can make the game not see the mod.

Also make sure you hit the "Apply Changes" button after enabling. If your checksum is 0 you may have accidentally put the mod in an extra folder when you extracted it(I.e. it should go ModFolder -> GameInfo, not ModFolder->Folder->GameInfo).
