I've been having trouble recently accessing webmail accounts for more than a few minutes, especially gmail.

I tried turning off my modem for a minute, but that didn't particularly help much (just gave me a few more minutes on gmail).  Why would a Domain Name Server have trouble accessing webmail but work fine accessing other website?  It seems webmail accounts are the ones that are not working.  Google.com, Startpage.com and yahoo.com are working, but gmail.com, mail.yahoo.com and other webmail services are not.

Is it likely to be a problem with the DNS, the modem or the internet connection?  I have installed Comodo and turned on their DNS, but I'm not sure if it applies to browsers (such as Pale Moon) other than Comodo Dragon, the Comodo offshoot of Chrome.

If you chose the option to apply their proxy only to Comodo Dragon, it shouldn't have applied to other browsers, StevenAus.

Sorry, it just asked me whether I wanted to enable their DNS.  What are the different types of proxy servers?  It didn't mention Comodo Dragon specifically, so I guess there is a small possibility it changed global DNS settings.  Although Internet Settings didn't show custom proxy.

What do you think is the cause of the webmail accounts being very flaky connection-wise?

I really don't understand why. I use Comodo Dragon, and have no problems with my webmail accounts at all. Might it be a matter of the extensions you have put on your browsers? Try disabling them and reconnecting to your webmail. If there's a difference, then enable them one by one until you get to the problem one (or more).

Well, none of the extensions are new.  So I am at a loss too.  I'll try some things out.   Note, the webmail problem is on all browsers, so I guess it must either be a DNS, modem or internet connection problem.

I assume you have cleared the cache and cookies on your browsers and that had no effect. You might try talking to techsupport at your ISP... might save a lot of unproductive and frustrating craziness...
