SOE and Rebellion causing BSOD on Startup

Please help

Hey guys,

I've been a fan of SOE and have been playing it for years without issue, but my new computer seems incompatible with the game. Whenever I try to launch either base game through the 'new' Impulse or the Rebellion beta through steam, I instantly bluescreen. Originally, the game didn't bluescreen but instead ran only on the lowest resolution possible. When I tried to change this to any other resolution the game bluescreened. Tech support told me to change the resolution outside the game, and now I bluescreen the moment I press start, even after reverting to original resolution. I've reinstalled the game, updated my drivers, and I still can't play SOE. I was hoping Rebellion on steam would magically fix the issues I'm having, but they still persist.

I really need some help with this, anything that's not "update your drivers" (they're up to date). My ticket with stardock support for my original SOE issue got mysteriously closed after the guy I was talking to seemed to run out of ideas. I'm posting this here in hopes of getting some help, and maybe opening a new ticket with Rebellion also purchased now.

My new setup is a standard HP Pavillion dv7 Laptop, using an external HP w2207 1680x1050 monitor as primary display. Using Windows 7, with up to date Catalyst ATI drivers and sound drivers. All important updates for windows are also installed.

Hope to get some help soon,

Thanks

EDIT: At least I think my drivers are up to date. HP tells me they are up-to-date through all of their utilities, but I'm very certain that there are more up-to-date drivers on the AMD website. How would I go about installing these? And are they needed? The HP utilities provided don't say there are newer versions and won't help in downloading them, and directly downloading the drivers from AMD of course fails, since it has to go through HP's interface to install correctly apparently.

You are not alone on your issues.  I also have a HP Pavillion dv7 laptop and am unable to play Rebellion at all.  I used to have to play Entrenchment with a lower resolution than optimal in order to get it even to work.

I have been trying to figure out what exactly is occurring with causing the BSOD but at this point I am unable to fix it.  If there are more people having this issue what is the fix that you guys are using to play the game at the proper resolution. The drivers are up to date as far as I can tell on my system as well.  All Windows updates are installed.  Game is latest version.  Upon opening it crashes and BSOD and well it's annoying.

Please assist us with this because to be honest there is more than one person having this issue.  As it's an issue that has appeared with the original Sins and now is with Rebellion as well.

On another note the drivers are fully up to date according to HP's system.  ATI Radeon 6770M Video card is what I am using.

Could it be a compatibility issue with the video card and the game?

I have this problem as well on my dv6 with AMD 6770M. BSOD the first time, won't launch after that. Stock system, upgraded with HPs latest driver. Trinity worked fine.
