Nonsense

So..from this https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/418942.

Topic has been closed and I have no intentions of going on the subject again. Won't play rebellion that's a no problem but I'd like to explain what has been a stupid misunderstanding between me and Island Dog, who I think quite jumped to conclusions without even reasoning on it a little bit.

I also written to customer support because I really feel having been treated unjustly.

If this not the place for a topic like this then feel free to move it in the right place, didn't know where to post a thing like this.

Hello,
yes thank you that resolves that problem however a new problem rise.
It seems that I had my posting rights taken away for good and am not able to post anymore.
They say that I talked about pirating the game but that's a non correct interpretation of my words, apparently someone lacks sense of humor.

First let me say that I am a Stardock genuine customer (where customer is key word) since day one and never pirated any of its games.
I still have Demigod and Sins in the orginal retail box with serials hooked up on impulse, I am a civil person who can talk constructive in a forum so I don't think I deserve such a harsh and exagerate treatment for a simple misunderstanding. I didn't even had the benefit of the doubt and that's a shame on a modern society that call itself "civilized". Wasn't innocent until proven guilty? Looks like Stardock thinks not, will you just going to ban genuine customers just because they use the word "pirate" in the context of a constructive talk?

I will include a copy of my private message sent to Island Dog, the one who removed my posting rights and censored my post.
He replied with a mere "zero tolerance" policy answer.
I want my posting rights back! I'm not a pirate for god sake! Just because he didn't get the meaning of one of my lines it does not mean that it didn't have a different meaning.

"That's censor you know yes? From Stardock guys I was expecting a much more open mind, I probably always search it in the wrong places.

You are using the fact that I pronounced the word "pirate" on a sarcastic line to unveil what is a known fact, to your advantage to put to rest an unhappy customer preventing him to spread his opinion. Where "CUSTOMER" is the key word. That's really a shame on you and I will make sure that people that counts here will hear it up via private messages, chats and what else."

The known fact I was trying to bring to evidence is that pirated steam games does not require steam installed so if Stardock will force customers on steam it will just give piracy more power, which is the opposite effect from what I think you want.

I need posting rights back there because that account is linked on all forums, how this ended is just nonsense!
Thank you in advance.

End of quote

@Island Dog:

I can't understand why you took it seriously, I even marked the line with a "...ironic? yes."

There is no proper place to post this as the best thing to do is not post it. Issues like this are between you and whoever is moderating the forums, not you and the community.

But, if you want community feedback, I saw the post in question before anything was done about it, and would have done the same, as would most moderators on most gaming forums I frequent. If you're looking for some sort of community outcry over how you were treated, you're not going to get it.

You did something you shouldn't have, end of story. Clearly you think you have a case here, some sort of justification that has merit. You don't. You think you were treated unjustly? You weren't.

I don't expect you to take me at my word on that, but then I don't really care. In any case, nothing is going to come of this that is anyway positive for anyone, least of all you. Carry on however you like, but I'd suggest learning when to shut up and politely apologizing and asking for the removal of limits placed on your account sometime in the future.

It's not, because I have been made to pass like someone who I am not without a way to defend myself from accusations, and I'm not happy with it. You would?

In addition of all the implications of the ongoing discussion made it worst, making it sounding like a plain censor to me for all other reasons.

So you lack sense of humor too? I don't know what else to think then.

Please take into account that english is not my native language so it probably did not went out in the way I'd have liked it to be however I have been a moderator too and before going to take such a harsh action against a customer I'd have thought on it much more, eventually talking with the person after the fact to clear it out.

But you like to jump to conclusions it seems, and won't even take into account what I think to be a proper explanation I did put a lot of time on it, much more than I should for a game I won't play. Get a real read to it, especially last paragraphs and tell me that it doesn't make sense if you dare... (again..sarcastic)

Do you think I would be here loosing my time and babbling about like a frog with alzaimer if I would really be a pirate? If that was the case I wouldn't even started the discussion in first place don't you think? This alone should explain the questioned line, it was obiviously ironic and aimed to make people at Stardock to think on it, so really I don't get why all this hate i'm getting.

Evidently gamers forums we frequent are completely different, and I think I have much to rejoice about it. I never had an understanding problem like this, nor one of my posts anywere ever needed to be censored or edited and I've been in many "hot spots". Yes I think I have a case here despite your opinion.

You think it's ok to post on DEV forums that if they insist to do something (publish via STEAM) which you don't like that, that will encourage more piracy?  Sounds like 'gamer entitlement' to me.

There is another thread (started by brad) discussing that very topic;)

EDIT:

All you did in your post was at best suggest that developers choosing what is best for them will in fact promote piracy; at worst your post showed you as a person suffering from an entitlement complex. Neither of which were/are a good thing.

I posted on Rebellion forum cause that was a Rebellion related issue, similar threads are there too so I don't see anything strange in posting there about Rebellion/Steam. Should I have posted in the "put-here-all-the-posts-we-wouldn't-like-to-see forum"? Does it exist? If yes point it to me I will gladly go there babbling so I won't disturb you with futile imporant stuff regarding the future of a company on which I am very interested in and that I follow since it's birth.

I don't even know how I should translate "game entitlement" in my language so you'll have to explain yourself better if you want me to take that into account.

Feel free to psychanalyse me from a forum post, this will surely make you a good/better psicoterapist.

Your post is full of assumptions too so I don't feel worried from your diagnosis, Doc.

Got any cheese to go with the whine?

Whether or not you were joking about piracy, saying you'll encourage it on a dev site is going to get you banned. You may not like it, but it's flat out stupid to expect anything else.

Maybe you're a very nice person in real life, but you certainly are acting like a spoiled child here.

Guess what, maybe you don't like steam. However quite a few people have no problems with it, it's non intrusive and convenient. Using it will probably lead to better sales for Ironclad. So I'm pretty sure that a few people crying about it aren't going to make it go away.

Hopefully this will absorb your tears.

VeryBad, ... that's just...

VeryBad.  Just about as bad as the Jack In The Box "Eat the Bride" ad when it was first put together and had Kermit the Frog in it.

Just Bad.  HAHAHAHAHAHA

"Perhaps I will pirate it then, steam titles does not require steam if pirated."

We have zero tolerance for piracy.

End of story.
