Yes, yes, I did all of that. I'm pretty sure it's a registration problem of some sort because that's when everything started to go wrong.

I had the exact same issue. You mention you did a reinstall but did you try verifying the integrity of the game cache? When I did that it re-downloaded 2 files, after that the game started perfectly.

I also had this problem.  I re-installed and verified the integrity of the game cache.  Still just mini-dumping

I as well verified the integrity of the crash. Still no dice. I can try installing it on a different computer, but I don't think that'll work any better than the reinstall. Where do I post the mini dump?

Hi all - We'll be checking out these minidumps today to see if we can determine what's up. Steam auto-collects them as well, but it's definitely helpful to get them sent to us also.

I was having this problem but I found that lowering the game resolution seems to have fixed it.

You can find the settings file under: 

AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\rebellion.user.setting (You will have to open it with notepad)

Then scroll down to the variables:

VideoFullScreenWidth, VideoFullScreenHeight, VideoWindowedWidth & VideoWindowedHeight.

Mine was initially at 1920x1080 but I found that 1600x900 fixed the issue.

Okay, it wouldn't let me access that folder, but I DELETED it and it works! So to anyone out there, try the fix above and if all else fails, delete the folder AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire.

Thx you for the Information anyways, i think it might have somthing to do with grafic card support.

I have a GForce GT 540 M and  onboard Grafic card from intel.

The intel card is in use for lower requirements and the Nvidia vor higher.  

I have set the Nvidia Card manuell for rebbelion, but this dosent fix that aswell.

I have the same issue, unfortunately. My graphics card is a (desktop version) nvidia 460 gt

Ok, I have an NVidia GT 555 and the above DID work for me. Rebellion runs fine at 1600x900 full screen. Thanks very much for the post Darstaed, not sure why SD haven't put this up as a potential solution.

what do we do if the largest FS is 1366x768 ??

i downloaded the newest driver from Nvidia.

Now i can play rebbelion without any issues.

i thought i have the newest version becuase i downloaded first time from Dell, that must have been old.

So maybe you check your drivers ?

so I tried running it in windowed mode at a smaller resolution to try and see if it would eventually sort itself out and it did, it just took forever to get to the intro screen. I also updated my graphics drivers, so hopefully that helped somewhere alongthe line

Exactly! GOt the same problem with the black or 1/4 screen and I got the same solution. 1600x900 is the highest working resolution on my PC: Intel Core i5-2500K without dedicated graphic card.

It seems to me that the program is still loading the engine, but it's not ready to display so just shows the black screen. Is it possible to just have a minimizable splash screen as a placeholder while the engine loads in the background? I'd think that would be so much more efficient, instead of having a program taking over the screen, appearing to not do anything for several minutes and being in a state that windows recognises as "not responding". I understand that what the engine is doing is actually loading the menu level as well as other things, but this delay is really quite annoying

Also Matthias, you might want to look into a Dedicated graphics card (even a cheap one), it makes a world of difference to performance and visuals.

How do you run it in a window mine automatically jumps to full screen and there's no option when opening to run in window.

Go to:  My Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Setting\rebellion.user.setting and open it in Notepad. Find where it says VideoIsWindowed FALSE and change it to TRUE.
