TEC rebels problem

I've played the beta for a day now and 1 thing sticks in my mind. Its really cool that TEC rebels can ally with neutrals and pirates. This enables them to expand quicly and gain an economic advantage. However, due to the current state of titans it seems that it is better to kill all of the neutrals with your titan and level up. The rebels cant do this once they have allied with neutrals. I think this needs to be looked into for balance reasons. The rebel titan could level up more easily to comphensate,for example.

Sorry for double post. I also have a problem with titans fast build speed once researched. Furthermore, the loyalist titan dosent seem to be balanced against the rebel titan especially once it has levelled up. Its just way too tough to even scratch in the early game.

I think this is really only a problem because the titans are way OP right now. Once they get adjusted somehow so you can defeat one without a higher level titan of your own, that tech will really be worthwhile. Perhaps even too worthwhile, as I bet the pros can do some ridiculously fast colonization and will immediately build three civic labs to use it.

Well maybe they (Titans) should be used to fight aliens, like the fluff says the Rebels are building the Titan for?

 

Not being able to level your titan on rebels should mean you need to use it on actually challenging offences rather than beating some guys with clubs down to butter with your Titan stick.

 

Perhaps you want to use it a certain way, but that's what the other races allow you to do...

The "honor among rogues" tech is a double-edged sword for the rebels.  You can expand quickly but your ships won't level as much.  It may be the only thing giving other factions a chance.  If the rebel titan leveled up quicker, their rush might be too powerful.

If you'd prefer to level your ships against neutrals, I'd say play loyalist.  If you'd rather eco rush and build a huge fleet early, the rebels are the way to go; you just have to know when to stop colonizing and start building frigates so you aren't caught off-guard by a battle-hardened opponent.
