I am attempting to install and play Sins on a new computer. I bought Sins retail box version back when it first came out. I cannot seem to get an automatic update, I did NOT buy it on impulse, so I guess impulse wants nothing to do with me.
IS there a direct link to the latest patch?

I bought it retail box, I am not going to pay to download it from impulse.
It is registered at stardock, but I cannot patch it through stardock, only impulse. But iimpulse won't let me patch it.
Have you tried creating a ticket with Impulse? Forums won't generally resolve technical issues.
