Corvetts, first impressions

Just got the beta yesterday and i want to talk about why i dont see a reason to build corvetts and why i want to want to buy corvetts. Ive tried using them for different things, like hit and run tactics and the like and I just find them useless. They are fast, and i like that they move around in combat (though it would be nice if it was a little more believeble looking) but i dont see any indication that the movment lets them get hit less. I could accept all that even if they did ANY dammage. Ive deployed a hord of them on hit and run tactics and they cant kill a TEC deffensive cannon before they are all destroye by that one cannon. I saw no reason to build them after that. I understand that they slow an enemies jump, but this doesnt seem to do much either

I apreciate anyones response thoughts/advise

Corvettes still need some tweaks. I think they will be balanced out more in the future, though. They already upped the supply cost of corvettes from 1 to 2.

They are most effective when combined with a larger fleet, backed with supportive cruisers (especially Hoshiko's are very useful) so that they won't die that quickly. The main point of a corvette is still to draw enemy fire away from more important ships, it seems.

That is the Loyalist version. The Rebel version is a nasty reducing of damage repairing. Loyalist corvettes are lame but rebel ones are worthwhile.

is that all damage repairing? or only passive hull regeneration.

because. thats a big difference.  -50% passive hull regeneration (read, -33% due to sins stacking....) is less than 1 hp per second on anything but titans and starbases.

Passive regen...not sure if it is "sins" stacking or not though....not everything stacks via the ghetto sketchy sins math method...

So far I like the corvettes since they heal my Corsev Battlecruiser up when they die, and they're cheap - and there's lots of them :D

I agree with Teun-A-Roonius - hopefully there will be more changes to the, in the future!

I got bored and maxed my fleet supply with them... they're cheap and fast to build, and you can have so damn many of them. Took out two level 3 titans with them and a few starbases (fully upped), lost 40-odd... then they all died because they where in range of a Loyalist Titan's mass AoE ablility (the name escapes me) so, it's all about how you use the buggers

they still need to be changed back to 1 fleet supply

The loyalist corvette plus two starbases cranking them out is a vary nice way to make sure you destroy that retreating fleet :3 just so you know and they are so expendable I don't mind loosing most of them in the process specially sence the two star basses can just crank the hell out of them
