Missing ships

Alright so several times within several games (usually during long 3-5 hour games) I notice at times after my enormous fleet has jumped to another planet or region sometimes a ship or two is missing.  These ships show up in the side panel but in game i double-click on them and it takes me into the middle of space with no ship to speak of.  This has happened several times to the point I almost feel paranoid about perhaps losing my titan or some of my capital ships.

Yea that has happened to me to a bunch of times

Yeah, and I've had no problem with the prior SOASE games just rebellion thus far

This is something I've seen in Entrenchment.  Some odd ship doesn't jump, but tries to reach the destination under conventional power.  Salvage it unless it's a capital.

The most annoying thing is when an enemy ship disappears in an allied AI players' gravity well, causing the allied AI to think that there is still a threat present and concluding in the fact that he will move his entire fleet there eventually, never leaving that gravity well anymore...

I've had ships show on the side panel but you can't see their image in the gravity well.  Ogrovs if it matters.

I've had this problem once, with a colony frigate. I sent it on a long trip from my homeworld, through a worm hole, then to another solar system. I didn't pay any attention to the journey since I controlled all the territory and had more important things to do :P, so all I know is that the ship showed up in the suns side panel but ceased to exist anywhere else. This was hours ( at least 3) into a comp stomp if that matters.

I've seen enemy capital ships disappear, but only at stars. I think they may be destroyed but just showing up in the forces present sidebar. I did search the phase lanes to see if they were just "floating" to the next gravity well, but nothing showed up.

My Titan and an IA Titan went missing in my planet no jump or anything special we were fighting, the IA kept coming and leaving and suddenly no more Titans

I lost a capital ship when I sent my fleet to another planet once. I think a couple rebel ships also got stuck inside one of my gravity wells once which resulted in my planet always being under attack audibley/visually even though the ships that were listed had disappeared and took me to the blank star field when selected. If I remember correctly, they were the rebels that jump into random planets at random times from nowhere in particular.

I lost a titan this way pre-patch.  Haven't had it happen to me since then, but a couple of pirate ships did get lost in one of the stars' gravity wells.

I lost a few capital ships in gravity well. Same thing where I could select them in the info card/empire tree but they weren't visible where the game thought they were and I couldn't give them orders.

This happened with an AI cap ship and frigate in my most recent game. when I clicked on their card/tree the screen took me to some unidentifiable point in space which you couldn't zoom into or out of, no ships there. They stayed there the remainder of the game.

We're still working to track this down.  If anyone has been able to figure out steps to reproduce this consistantly, or has a save game that can be used to quickly reproduce this bug we'd be eternally grateful :)

I will see if I can send the saved game file.

Ok, a save game along with the custom map used at http://www.love-from-russia.be/missing_ship.7z

Happen on a defeated AI planet ( sun sirius, planet suleika )... just jump a scout and see that 6 of the 14 javelis LRM frigates listed on the tree was in fact not there... don't know when it have happen... previous exploration of the planet was over 3k second ago... so it have happen in the last hour of play...

Screenshot of the planet below... with red circle are the missing ship... click them and you are send to the void of space, cannot zoom in or out, need to click a other ship...

Hope it help... in this case, bug happen for a AI player but it can happen with human player, with pirate player, with rebel ship, etc... can happen to everybody, everywhere, at any time... problem is to have a save game for before and after it happen... have only happen to me in my first beta testing play... but it have happen in my 3 play to somebody...

I have a save where this has already happened to a capitol ship and it is stuck in subspace somewhere. Would that help?

I think that everything can help... the bug in itself is very annoying and can really break the gameplay... by example a AI stopping the fight on the front line and stockpiling ship in one of his gravity wheel because there is some invisible ennemy there ( that it cannot kill )... it is something who need to be solved as fast as possible...

This bug does seem related the number of ships that are making the jump.

I've just had it happen with v0.63 with a level 5 Kol - the game was started in v0.63 to eliminate any the possibility of corruption caused by duff game save data from bugs in the earlier beta versions.

Unfortunately, it was already missing in the last autosave (AutoSave-20), so I looked for the next oldest.

However that (19) and a few others (18, 17) were missing.

As autosaves appear to be saved every 15mins the next autosave (16) was an hour old.

Has anyone noticed missing autosaves too?

Thanks for the info!  What would be most useful to us is if anyone has a save before the bug occurs, and an explanation of how to reproduce it from that save (or from scratch).  We already have a handful of saves once it has already happened.  Info on the # of ships is interesting.  Thanks again!

I've had the problem repeatedly, and I already sent a fairly detailed email to the rebellion-beta email.  I have auto-saves, but I couldn't figure out which ones specifically are useful(20+ auto-saves in most of my games), and I don't know if auto-recordings would help.

Oh, as far as number of ships, it's most common for me with 100+ mixed ships in a fleet(Tactics management -> Create Fleet), set to group jump, and on a control group.  It happens primarily when revising jump orders after the fleet is already moving.  Toggling group jump after giving a jump order seems to be the primary trigger.  I have seen it happen with as few as 30-60 ships, but it seems much more rare.

If game recordings help, I have several; saves are much harder to come by, though I do have 6-hour games worth of auto-saves with multiple occurrences of the problem in .60 and  .61.

Hum, I've had the bug with enemy pirates on one of my planets. The planet was constantly "under attack", and when I said to my corvettes to attack the pirates they just turned on themselves indefinitely.

Oh, and the pirate had 34% hp, and it went up with time. Which means that it's still "real" somewhere.

This seems to always happen when a fleet is jumping out into a phase lane.

I think is might be part of the Z -axis problem in the previous versions where the ships in question head the wrong way up or down the axis (this has been a problem since Sins Vanilla).

It may be compounded now because of the Zoom limitation maybe - they are so far along the axis you cannot zoom on them.  I do not recall seeing this until we began testing Beta 2.  Actually I recall seeing it the day they Beta 2 download was mistakenly released and then pulled - so the problem was introduced with the Advent.   Very Sneaky.  lmao

Nope, it was happening in the v0.6x TEC only versions, still happens in v0.76.

FWIW: in my current game (huge, multiple star map) it seems that mainly Solanus Adjudicators fall victim to this problem.

Edit: I'm not sure if it was related, but earlier on in this game a small group (IIRC 4 of each) of disciple & defence vessels were attempting to leave a grav well without going through the phase lane.

They got about 5-10% outside of the outer ring of the well before I noticed them.

I was able to order them back inside the well and then send them onto another planet.

It's not just in phase jumps ^^
