That new ship corvet thing...

Sorry,

I still haven't found a real reason to build one.

They're nice to fill your fleet with when you're expanding against neutrals in the beginning I guess.

well it's a research you can avoid with base frigate, I mean they really do a good job those basic frigates  .

Sorry my comments may be a bit sarcastic, I am really asking for help in finding what is their usage!

p.s. Why not have the basic frigate a lvl 1 tech now and have the corvet and scout as base ship? right now scouts are more effective as a rush ship then corvets, with the scout sabotage upgrade, you can use them to kill enemy structures at least and you need the 4th research station for the titan so if you rush scout then use the scout to cripple the enemy buildings forcing him to hunt down your macroing 5-10 squad scouts...

No way you can acheive this with the corvet right now.

Ah they are great scout counters...

The Advent and Vasari Corvettes are a bit more powerful in that they have more passive abilities - the corvettes for the Advent alone each have three passive abilities. Also, if you start out the game by building a military lab, you can just swarm them, making clearing out neutral colonies much easier.

if you get enough of them, you have a higher chance of applying their debuff to targets and it appears they do stack.

I was able to destroy a retreating capital ship because my loyalist corvettes had increased its phase jump time by 40%

I find corvettes to be very useful when combined with a large fleet. They draw a lot of fire away from the more important ships, ae good at eliminating bomber spam and are fairly cheap to replace. I kind of like them to be honest. They move in a funny way too!

In a titan vs titan, they can make the difference too... one of the faction have corvette who allow to slowndown/dissable the passive hull regeneration... in titan vs titan fight, it can happen that passive regeneration of the hull almost match the damage, making fight take a eternity for end... a few corvettes for attrack the fire of the ennemy titan, and for reduce/dissable the passive hull regeneration of the ennemy titan, and the battle will end fastly, before ennemy is able to send reinforcement...

They need upgrades for the corvettes.

I have tried that on a 1v1 w/ AI.  A hoard of those things is very good.  At least they were before the patch that made them have 2 supply.  I tried it before that and had 114 or so ships, killing enemy ships in one flyby.

Whilst we can't talk about specific stats obviouslly, i found the vassari corvettes to be in a much better place in terms of things like health, firepower, supply, and cost. They're weak enough not to tread on other frigates, but strong enough not to be blown away by an idle volly.

I'd really advise the devs when they start looking more fully at the corvettes that they use the current vassari corvette stats as a starting point.

I also have no idea what niche they are supposed to fill.

It is even more puzzling since sins clearly (imo? do correct me if I'm wrong.) has one they would be perfect for: Harassers.

Lets say they do decent damage to structures (and not that much to anything else, but enough to not be totally helpless - enough for a small group to force a few defending ships), are fast and can be teched to ignore starbase jump discouraging effect and jump inhibitors and be immune to strike craft.

Now the enemy has to build defences in their inner worlds or have small patrolling fleets.

Ironclad says they have plans for them in the next major patch, so we'll see how it goes from there.  Right now they are indeed garbage.
