What's your favorite map in the SoaSE Rebellion Beta? It could be the best looking, most tactical etc.

In all honesty ... I would still have to say Huge (Single) Random ... if you could take out the Moons (they look ugly!) and the 'artifact' planet.

Naw, it's the randomness that I really like. As I enjoy more of an 'empire building' style of game, I enjoy the 'not knowing' portion of the random maps, the chock points (or lack there of) etc.

Medium Random.  I like the "not knowing" part.  It's just more fun to have variety.

Systems of War has been a fave of mine for a while but I also find the large random's give me some of the most exciting games as well.

What map has the best look? Id like to have really nice lighting and backrounds to take epic screenshots to show off this game

I love Gateway. Its a personal favourite- take out half of the players, so its an empty system and its great. Fighting over Gateway, fleeing to Xi, or trying to hold back the enemy on the multitude of paths available. Plus i like the long sweeping wings of asteroids- i try get as far down them as i can.

Would have to be Grindstone for me. Love tight maps with conflicts increasing in intensity as game time increases. One wrong move can be devastating on maps like this. Being mindful of your actions because of the dire consequences they have is thrilling I think.

No new maps have been added in the current beta. Though the random maps seems to have been redone.

Usually Random with various sizes for me, but i think i should try some of the premade maps.

Same here. I'm an expand -> build -> defend -> create huge fleet and roll kind of player so it suits me well. Not good at micromanaging and multitasking in RTS games so I'm more or less forced to play that way.

 

Otherwise I like Random - Medium Large. I find it boring on the larger maps because then research doesn't matter as much because everyone have more or less maxed their research in the important areas.

That's my second favourite map for the same reasons I stated in my above post.

I like Entanglement (3v3).  It has a random feel, sorta stringy, with lots of good chokepoints.

Razor's Edge, a small 3v3, is great for quick competitive games.

Foreign Invasion, is another good small 3v3, with the added strategy of a hidden galaxy. 

I love Gateway too, a great strategy map.  And ofcourse, the Huge Random Single star (5v5), is also one of my favs. 

I wish we had another random 5v5 map.  Possibly one where starting positions are known, so a tvb (top vs bottom) would spawn with all top 5 together, and so on...
