Mini Dump error

Hi all.

I just bought Sins of solar empire trinity on steam, but i cant play the game cause as soon as i start it the screen goes black as if it would be loading, and then this meesage appears:

Saved MiniDump

C:\Users\Silver\AppData\Local\Temp\Sins Dump\Sins-Diplomacyv1.34-2012-04-07-00-36-14-7408-10132.dmp

As soon as i press OK on the message the game crashes and i get this message:

Sins of a Solar Empire Diplomacy has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Would appreciate if someoune could help me out with this.

Thanks.

I've been receiving the same error. I sent a message and the .dmp file to Stardock Support. I'll let you know what I hear from them.

I haven't heard from support yet but I have made some progress.

What system are you using?

I have an Alienware M14x and there's a program installed called AlienAutopsy. Autopsy reported there was an update for graphics card. I installed it, rebooted, and now Sins will launch just fine.

It ran just fine on my desktop the first time I loaded it. Might have something to do with nVidia Optimus and switching between Integrated and Discrete graphics.

Didn't work for me unfortunately. Just in case my graphics card is GTX 560M

Hmm. Different GPU. Mine is running the GT555M but I thought nVidia ran packages across the whole product line.

I'm not really sure where to go from here.

My first thought is email [email protected] and attach the .dmp file, since from what I've found you/we won't be able to access what's in that file on our own.

The only other thing I can think of, is that the problem seems to be when the system hands off from the integrated graphics to the discrete graphics, it crashes. I've heard there's ways to disable nVidia Optimus so you run the GT560M the whole time. Hopefully there would be a way to re-enable it otherwise you'll be losing a lot of battery life.

I'm not sure what doing that entails, but if its not too hard, its an option.

I'll post if I have any other ideas.

Good Luck!

Yeah i had this thought too, however i haven't a clue how to switch from integrated to runing GTX all the time :(

I will try the support.

Thanx for the help :)
