Huge part of Rebellion missing?

I know this is already probably to late to discuss but since we are in beta hopefully the devs can give us a nice little present. The thing is that there is a huge piece of Rebellion missing the looks of the faction. When I first started beta testing I noticed while playing in SP that it was really hard to find if they were a loyalist or rebel faction because i didn't know about the Diplomatic stats declaring which faction you or they were on. In the original anouncement I read all the new features in Rebellion but I noticed that this was missing "Loyalist and Rebel versions of some of the existing Sins’ frigates and cruisers, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses."

hmmmmm........... The TEC looks the same on both sides minus the titan and same with the Advent giving them the only distinctive value with their ships. I think that each faction should have a look and feel of their own. The TEC for example the Rebel faction ships should look battle torn and worn down in some way with more powerful and offensive weapons. While the Loyalist faction keeps their ships on a more less offensive side and more a defensive side. The capital ships should also have different but similar abilitys depending on the faction giving each faction a really cool feeling to it making the player feel like he is leading this faction and he knows what it is.

The Advent are a tuff nut to crack I admit but the Loyalists are still bent on their revenge so they should have more forward and more powerful weapons and a menacing look and feel to their ships. I want to see a ship and know if its a rebel or loyalist instead of looking at their diplomatic screen. The rebels on the otherhand since the Advent have suffered a "schism" in the Unity they should look more spiritual but has the ability to do some damage to anyone who fights them.

I know the Vasari isnt out yet so I dont event want to try them please comment and discuss and who knows we might even get it.

I totally agree! The differences between Rebels vs Loyalist should be BIG so we can clearly see which side we are on/which side we're fighting with:) (Just like pirates ship = similar to TEC but different).

Well honestly I agree on one level and then not on another. Just like the Roman civil wars the badges would be different but the troops would look exactly the same.

Good point, the only real difference should be tactics because at the end of the day the fracture between the factions has only recenly occured.  There should be some different tech (the titans) but the majority of the fleet should be the same.

I have not had time to try the Advent Rebels yet, but for me the TEC factions have a very different play style.  One is clearly defensive and the other is clearly offensive.

I also completley agree the diffrences are too similar.  I usualy play as the TEC because i like having a strong economy.   But the ships are so similiar and tech is so similar i cant tell who is who (unitl the novathis start flying around) not just the look but actual ship stats and abilites, it give you more stratagey and really use your own playing style

I disagree there is no reason to fix what is not broken. There are definetly noticable characteristics to the TEC, such as TAR and Pirate Mercs. Which do not come THAT late. I do however think the ships need new skins.

TEC differences are pretty obvious and I don't think they really need that big of a change. It's the Advent that has the biggest identity crisis. The Vasari I have no worries since how the hell do you not differeniate when you start seeing planets disappear and having Starbases randomly phase jump.

I agree to some point,  My thoughts are that both factions new capital ship should also look different.  if there's a split in the factions to the point where they both came up with new technology and built their Titans differently, then a new capital ship should also look different and have different abilities.  Both Rebels and Loyalist having the same capitalships makes these races to similar.  understandable about the past capships but IC should at least consider making a new capitalship for both sides.

Yeah it's almost laziness by the devs that both new factions also share the same new capital. And a TEC anyway, ugly to boot!

In their original rebellion features list the dev's even stated that there would be "Rebel and Loyalist versions of existing ships". Didn't happen while it would have made the subfactions way more diverse if they did implement new ship versions...

They may not be implimenting it in beta, I hope they do in the final version though.

My only concern is how much extra resources would this take for extra skins etc as the game only has a finite amount of memory and presently they seem to be addressing late game lag very well, its still there but ALOT less noticable than in previous expansions.

Well in my experience with skinning, it shoulden't take up an outrageous amount of memory. Thats just from my experience when I made maps in wc3 xP

I would hope that anything like that would be superficial decals rather than modifying the whole texture...

Granting the ships different weapons would be enough to be honest. Like Kodiak heavies with beam weapons or something. Damn that would look cool. I think I will mod them to have beam weapons just for fun now that I think about it!

Perhaps some specialization along these lines

TEC Loyalists: missiles

TEC Rebels: autocannons

Advent Loyalists: beam

Advent Rebels: plasma and psi blast or whatever it's called

Vasari Loyalists: Wave and PM

Vasari Rebels: Pulse Beam and PM
