New Possible TotalBiscuit Match to Promote Sin's Multiplayer

A chance to show him the Sins MP the right way

So after seeing his first stream and how he was a bit disappointed with the very slow pacing of his online game. He was playing FFA with just normal settings and frankly it didn't go so well for him or really anybody in general.

So I tweeted him and invited him to try again with us 1-4 year veterans in a 5v5 match up.

https://twitter.com/#!/Rovert40

https://twitter.com/#!/Totalbiscuit

He actually agreed to it to the possibility. Though it won't be this weekend but at a later date. Problem is that if we do go through. My worry is that TB will just be slaughtered unless we can try to keep everybody at bay. I am unsure if we should try a custom map or go through with the random map.

Thoughts/Concerns?

I am being very optomistic about the situation.

Wow this is fricken awesome, sign me up for the match bro!

+1 carpetbomb.

Honestly, having us play a match or two, then have him play the replay so he can see ALL participants would be a really cool way to have him voice over for the match.

Having one player's focus is just so limited, and i'm not sure he knows the capability that the playback function has (if it works in beta..i haven't tried it yet).

That being said, we should have a game where he is allied with everyone and shares planetary vision.  We also need to ensure no asshats join up.

In this way he won't be attacked and can really have a sweet display of online skills.

I'd recommend a random map because that is the bread and butter of sins multiplayer.

Now idk if this will go through or not. But he seems to be hinting that he really is considering it.

I'm sure hes a busy guy.  I'll probably emergency call in sick at work if the game conficts with my schedule.

If it ends up on a Saturday or maybe Friday I'll be glad to play, though I really don't know who this guy is. ;)

Well he has a subscriber base of 650,000+ on youtube. I know because I am one of them.

He is also one of the top starcraft commentators and game commentators in the industry.

yeah if we can just get him to portray the scale of the game i think this would really help the game.  I didn't really get a feeling for how big and grand sins strategy is from the video he posted.  Hopefully this will be better portrayed in another match.  :)

To know Sins is to love Sins.  And I believe that is the problem.  Total Biscuit is a megaphone.  He could give Sins a lot of eyeballs.

I watched his entire videos, and they were HORRIBLE and I feel so sorry for his situation.

I would be totally down to showing this guy how sins is PLAYED.

Rovert, I guess you will be our liason.

One thing we should really do is hook him up with some replays of some sweet games i think? hes a shoutcaster so... lets say we play one game and totally crush him, and then we send him a replay to watch and learn fron, and then next weekend we play, hopefully now that he has some decent experiance under his belt, and we play a legit game.  and, i would love love love to see sins shoutcasted. it is like, my dream.

And you likely rarely or never will. Anything interesting about Sins gameplay comes through experiencing it. To an outside observer, it's really quite dull, like soccer.

he needs Auqia to show him a thing or two

:D

that would be a great example

yeah that would just be him getting his ass handed to him in 10 min.  he wouldn't have to complain about a long ass game at all!!

lol.

+1 person has this dream as well.

I want to open up a video game bar and I want to have sins games shoutcasted right along with starcraft games.  IMO, it would appeal to two different crowds and bring in a larger audience to chugalug mah beerz.

Sins is a much slower game for older people, not to say anything about those people (I'm 17, and I love Sins) but I have yet to see anyone else my age playing it...

it just doesn't appeal to my generation quite as much as it does to the previous one

its an age thing, trust me once you are 25+ you will be wanting a game like sins.  You'll look back at this game when you replay it and be like...holy shit this is pure fucking gold!!!

Not true, a talented shoutcaster needs to have a good understanding of the game, then he can interpret the strategies in real time to draw in a larger audience...

He could actually interpret the high strategy aspects and do instant replays where he finds brilliance.

We should learn him this game.  :)

I really liked some shoutcasts by TotalBisquit that he made for different games. Though for this one, the problem was simply that he put the game speeds at all normal instead of fast. Besides that, I second what Sareth stated above. He really should have played a bit more single player to get to master the very basics of the game before heading over to the multiplayer scene...

Yeah, imho the game is at its best at the fastest speeds (bar the victory speeds). Its still infinitely slower than likes of  StarCraft or CnC, but does not feel nowhere as tedious as on normal.

This could be fun, count me in if he agrees to do it.

Yeah, if you don't want Biscuit to get killed right away by a Corvette spam rush, you could do one of my customs where the teams start out separated from one another.  You might consider the new 5v5 map Race to Paradise (screenshot below).  Alternatively, you could try Red Crush v2, The Mosh Pit v2, Gateway to Paradise 5v5, or Asteroid Belt 5v5.

Hmm ya dirty's maps should get the recognition they deserve :).

Yet at the same time he'll witness what a pain in the ass it can be getting 10ish people the same new maps...

I enjoyed your race to paradise map, it would be a good one to show him because of the forced confrontation in the middle...it would get kinda crazy with all the corvette spam.

I know you have it all in a special map pack :)

Having Sins shoutcasted atm is impossible for many reasons.

- The community is way too small for such a thing.

Sins doesn't have proper features on ICO for a much more competitive environment.

- We don't have proper matchmaking like SCII

- We don't have a proper clan system

- ICO is sorta of unstable at times.

I'm new to Sins, so I can completely identify with the slow pacing - especially when compared with a typical RTS.

However, Sins isn't akin to a typical RTS. It's more like Age of Empires.... You have to spend time at the peon levels gathering meat from deer and berries from bushes.

It's slow to ramp up, but once you get things in place it's a like a steam roller.

You can't truly appreciate this game until you realize the massive scale that encompasses it, and the implications of the strategies you choose. Once you realize how large these games can be, you'll appreciate the slower pace so that you can keep tabs on everything. :)

I love TotalBiscuit. He's one of the guys I feel properly reviews games and gives them proper/fair scores (even though he actually doesn't really give it a score). Since he has so many viewers this could be an awesome place to grow. Lets do it! If you are subbed to him start asking him!

@ rovert

Yep stardock/ironclad slap themselves in the face with every minidump...They need a battle.net type of framework if/when sins rebellion gets a huge # of sales.  Even promising to improve this will go far in making this game a really big hit.

Or they could just

"build it, and they will come".

I was just thinking that.  It would be just our luck that Total Biscuit's game would minidump on him.

While TotalBiscuit is a fair reviewer he seems to gravitate towards first person type of action.  He liked Space Pirates And Zombies and Tribes Ascend as examples.  (He did not like Snuggle Truck so much.   ;) )  From the videos he has on YouTube he spends a lot of time in StarCraft 2.  So he likes action.
