The Novalith Does Not Need a Nerf/Limit

The Novalith Does Not Need a Nerf/Limit

The amount of OP Novalith threads is becoming disheartening.

It's not the Novalith that's actually OP. After so long with the novalith for what 4 years? It's only spammable and what people call "OP" once TEC loyalists are able to just rush it out with just 6 military labs.

It is the flawed AI that can't seem to be do anything else.

The AI with TEC loyalists will just rush out the novalith cannon probably because there is nothing to research behind it.

If you are gonna "nerf" the Novalith. Don't put this 2 superweapon limit unless you want to nerf the TEC loyalists to the ground. Instead just put a few missle researches behind it. Not all of them but at least some so it isn't as rushable and spammable. That's all the Novalith needs to make it "less OP". It's just only too spamable if anything when the AI on harder difficulties have money cheats. A player wouldn't be able to rush this many but it's only the AI issue.

Also it's a superweapon for a reason. Heck it isn't even the best superweapon. The Vasari have the best superweapon since they can just skip all your defenses and just jump in with a large fleet on your capital if they wanted.

This can't be said enough times. Please, devs, if you are going to nerf/buff anything based on beta feedback, base it on MP battles and MP feedback. Skirmishes with the AI involve extra variables. Maybe people are complaining about the game balance, or maybe they are complaining about the AI. You can't know for sure until one of those components are removed.

Since somewhere between 90% and 99% of the people who buy the game play more SP then MP (or don't play MP at all, depending on who you ask), ignoring what the SP players are saying is a great way to commit sales suicide.

As the best AI is one closest to a skilled human player, I think he meant more to buff/nerf ships/buildings based on MP strategies, and change the AI to reflect said strategies, as opposed to buff/nerf based on the AI strategies you see in single player. This goes double for beta, as the AI is... quirky, at best, full retard at worst.

I'm assuming, as it would be absurd of him otherwise, he never intended to say that SP feedback should be ignored, just tempered by the fact SP game play is tainted by the current AI logic.

The AI is actually detracting from the singleplayer experience since it tends to make weird and stupid decisions making every game an easy steamroll unless you are facing 9 vicious AIs or something.

SP advice shouldn't be ignored when it comes to this. They are the one's most affected by it. The novalith buff/nerf has nothing to do with the MP community since none of us ever used it anyways. Games usually end by the time you're able to get one out.

Also I play SP myself occasionally as for many in the MP community so I can have a say on the AI behavior and novalith issue.

I would prefer the AI to be fixed instead of fumbling around with the nova, though. Of course getting the Vasari in for large scale playtesting seems to be more pressing than that, so I don't mind waiting some.

Not what I mean at all. What I am saying is: Don't make game balance changes if the problem is the AI, and vice-versa. That's what a multiplayer beta is for, it doesn't mean that MP is the focus of the game. It just means that you are isolating your variables and not gimping the game because the AI can't understand how to play.
