To Scale planets

Mod anyone?

One thing that has always bugged me is the ships are the size of small moons.

Is there a mod out there that makes planets bigger in scale and increases ship speed and logistical and tactical slots in part of the fix?

Gas giants seem to be the only planetary zones that make sense---if it were a moon the size of say, Titan.

I know nothing about modding (I can't even make galaxy forge work right), but I belive it would be totally awesome to have this. Increase ship speed and acceleration, and even distance between planets (and increase jump speed).

It would also be cool to increase missile ranges 5x for ships and structures with a dissipating damage over distance. For the balance on advent, larger ships the same thing for beam technologies.

Just throwing it out there. Anyone?

From the directory of Planet mods.

Novus Universum

Made by NovaCameron, this mod adds a lot of new content.  Noted for its realism and high detail, Novus Universum features moons, 8 planet sizes, a variety of stars, and much more!  Much of NovaCameron's work has been incorporated into the conversion mod Star Wars: Sins of a Galactic Empire.

Novus Universum v1.2 (12/06/2011)

This is the mod you've been wanting Leuthesius. It adds a whole new system of planets and skyboxes, almost all of which are far bigger than normal Sins planets. It truly gave the biggest sense of space of any mod I've ever played. Unfortunately by itself its out of date, and while I have a crude version of it for myself updated, your best bet might be to just try it in SoGE if you don't mind using Star Wars with it.

If all else fails, its fairly easy to resize meshes with a tool like this. You would then need to adjust the gravity well sizes of each planet entity and increase the ship speeds in the gameplay.constants file, but it would be a manageable project.

Thank you for the reply.

Looks like something I can break.... big time. :(

Unfortunately, if I do any of that, I don't know how to change the game mechanics in regards to the larger gravity wells. Like I said, I can barely get Galaxy Forge to run right. :/

While Novus Universum currently doesn't work well with Diplomacy, I can confirm that it will be made functional for Rebellion; mainly as I will help Nova with it/do it myself if he's AFK.

Be warned that if you increase planet sizes, and gravity wells (like we did in 7 Deadly Sins) everything will be MUCH closer together, cause planets to be VERY close to one another which results in lag when placing structures (along with general instability).  Remember to also go into EACH galaxy (map) file and increase the "meters per galaxy unit" value accordingly.

For example, if you make planets 5x as large, you would also want to multiply the "meters per galaxy unit" by 5x as well.  THEN you also need to increase each races' base warp speed by 5x, so that they take the same amount of time to cover the increased distance!

I did the rescaling of maps in 7DS recently, its well worth it if you are making the planets alot bigger.
