Novalith Cannon/Kostura Cannon a bit OP

Could use a nerf

So after playing a few games with 5 solar systems I found that its a bit over powered that the cannons can fire across those systems. if the game is set up to kill the home planet of the other players you should at least have the cannon in the same system. Other wise with the support of other players you could just build 4 cannons and wipe out the home planet of each player after sending out scouts, and never need to leave your controlled system with your fleet. Takes the challenge and fun out of the game if all you need to do is bunker down and but up a wall of mines/ships till you fire 4 rounds into the other home planets.

 

It made the game to fast to win I would suggest changing that or at least add a check box that disables the uses of the cannons across solar systems for all factions to make players move out from there planets and make the game more about fleets vs fleets and not who can build there 4 cannons first.

The four cannon limit was already the biggest nerf the super weapons have ever had. Sure the AI may not realize how to counter them in a capital victory but human players can manage, and if you want to have fleet versus fleet battles don't cheap shot the AI. ;)

i have seen the ai build sb with aux all the time and the tec ai builds shields

 

and the super weapons aint rly op if anything now they r useless

Seriously, that post is barely legible.

It's also nonsense. Four Kostura cannons is useless? Is that a joke? It only takes one to get a fleet behind the front line.

Hell, the Deliverance Engine doesn't even stack with itself, you basically can't use more then two of them effectively anyway. Four is enough to keep the fleet damage buff (the only part that works reliably) up permanently.

And of course, being able to totally blow up two planets every five minutes or keep the econ debuff on 12 on a permanent basis is useless. Because the Novalith was only useful if you built 20 of them, right?

Oh, boy, poor people, if enemies had a superweapon or warhead nuclear or something make them powerful, would you come up to enemies and tell enemies "nerf your power", will enemies listen to you? more likely enemie blast you with thier powerful weapons for whiring. LOL we had no problem with superweapon for many year till now. due thank to a.I  now can build more or a.I don't build order to keep superweapon, reason is that dev leave superweapon gave player choice to finish long game when player not in mood fight fleet to fleet since that had been done alreadly too much, there is time I choice to build superweapon, or if I had superweapon but turn auto off if I want to fight fleet to fleet, but there is time I'm so tired and want game end so I build superweapon or turn them on to speed game up rather quit and gave up, all thosw hard work in vain.

Superweapons just got nerfed hard by being capped at four because the newbies couldn't handle them even though the rest of us haven't had any trouble with them for four years.  Sure, vanilla Sins had the Kostura be OP, but that got nerfed two micro-expansions ago.  They've been fine this whole time and because the AI is stupid it started building a lot of them so the devs put a cap on it for the newbies even though auxiliary government is a perfectly decent counter as are hardened cities and shield generators.

If you're playing the gamemode where you can wipe out an empire by wiping out the homeworld, simply put a starbase on your capital with auxiliary government or your race's equivalent.  You won't lose it through bombardment.  It's almost like it's a counter that has economic benefits and comes multiple tiers before superweapons.

@ seleuceia: I guess they are not argueing against the OP, but against the first reply claiming the 4 superweapon limit in itself is a pretty big nerf to them.

In any case, it has been implied by the devs that superweapons are to be buffed per weapon, they just haven't gotten around to it yet....

Honestly I wish they had just done this rather then the implemented 4 limit. it's simple, allows players to protect one world from superweapon tomfoolery, means superweapons aren't a huge factor in capital planet victory games, and does less to nerf the overall potential of superweapons the a hard cap on weapons built.
