Question Re: Copyright and Use of Partial Image

HI

I would like to use a portion of a Magritte sculpture, "The Future of Statues".

Original:  http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/rene-magritte/the-future-of-statues-1937

Below is a rough, foundation/first draft for a wallpaper/ Dream skin.

I'm uncertain if the portion of the original I would like to use violates copyright rules.

Of course I would credit the artist, but sometimes credit isn't the issue.

I'm certain I will get a clear answer here.

Thanks

Casperrr

I expect the restrictions of copyright pertaining to that work will prevent you from their use as when I clicked on your link the place-holder for the image was blank with the comment below that copyright prevents that image being displayed in 'my country' [Australia, BTW].

When such restrictions are imposed it suggests 'active' and definite limitations.

As with 'anything' you wish to use [normally]....and particularly in this case you'll need to acquire specific consent...;)
