Xsi mod tool crash

I have a problem, I've been working on a .obj model in wings3d, but when I import it to XSI, it loads everything up to "importing polygons for object 1/1 100%" then says "failed to save scene before system failure". Any ideas?

I think it may have something to do with the fact that my wings3d is installed entirely on a USB card.

Try running the runonce.bat file in your XSI installation directory, if there is one. Otherwise, it sounds like a corrupt model. How your primary app is installed shouldn't affect the .obj file.

Ran the .bat, what was it supposed to do? Also, this happens with ALL my models, regardless of what file format I save them as.

Try reinstalling the mod tool then. The .bat file was supposed to repair any missing/corrupt drivers, dll's etc.

I had a heck of a time getting the mod tool running in Win 7, Fred.  It has official support up to Vista and Win 7 is mostly that at the core but it would run, break, install, fail to install until I finally one day just got it to take.

It took constant installs and re-installs to get it working and for now it seems set.

My impression was there are two features in the mod tool that try to install in a certain order and if they get hung or delayed the installation of the tool fails or it crashes on use at some point.

On the install that was successful, I noted I got past these two things that I hadn't seen execute before during the installation so I assume they are the bottleneck.

I just "rinsed and repeated" my installation about 18 times for it to finally take.

The .bat I, believe, goes back and tries to make sure things that might have missed being registered on install get registered before you start the program up after installation.  It didn't solve my original problem.
