Tips and tricks to fix the crashes?

Hi all.

So as many other I have started to play Sins Rebellion again and I experience alot of crashes as alot of other people.

I have read through alot of posts and have gotten no answer.

One things that strike me is that it appears that some guys dont experience these. Do they have any tricks on how to make the game more stable? Different graphics settings, map settings etc. or are they just lucky?

I have a Macbook Pro. Nuff said. XD

Seriously now though: You should try to turn off some advanced texture filtering and Anti-Aliasing first. Those soak up huge amounts of CPU (in other words they make your pc lag more) and should reduce the amount of crashes you encounter while hardly reducing visual prettyness.

If that doesn't really help you should lower the texture quality of ships and structures and uncheck the Display Asteroids, Dust Clouds and Trade Ships boxes. If that doesn't help, well, off you go to the local Alienware dealer...

Mine crashes randomly when I play but I don't think it's a problem with the computer not being able to handle the graphics, because it always runs smoothly until it just decides to crash.

When does it crash? Just randomly in game? More details help a lot.

Here's the only crash related advice I can find from the devs.

  • Game Crashes On Start / Load
    • This is most likely caused by a bad update. To fix, go to your Steam Library and right-click on Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, then select Properties. Click the Local Files tab and then Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
    • To avoid this in the future, you may want to suspect any anti-virus apps or other disk scanning apps during an update. These apps can sometimes lock files during updating/install

if you are experiencing the random crash to desktop with no dump files, the thing to do is run the game in windowed mode. It somehow makes it work.
