I hope they move the research to tier 8. When I saw where it was on the tree, I was kinda sad to see it so easy to get to.
But why ban the rebels? The Loyalists are more powerful.... I played a game with a friend where I played VR, and he played VL. By the time I was ready to go on the offensive, he had already stripped half the enemy's planets to the core, and when I went to attack the last player's homeworld, they surrendered. I didn't get to do jack.
calling a pro ico player an idiot for telling you the truth reminds me just how the level of stupidity in this forum is op'd.
VR are defeated by the VL.. I've sniped so many starbases in construction and any upgraded one just crumbles beneath the might of the VL fleet.
The thing is to allow starbases to phase jump but nerf them in some way.. Otherwise taking away there op-ness just crumbles them beneath the VL.

Hmm also you must realize that quar is drunk online quite often, and his grammer was unusually poor on this thread (even for him lol). I suspect hes been drinking too much of that polish beer!!

Calling a pro idiot and idiot because he is being an idiot is not stupidity. Never did I question his regards to balance on Vasari Loyalist. But he has no business bringing them into a thread regarding VR's. If he cares so much he can make his own thread about it.

Banned from online? It's a beta, testing out the unbalanced stuff is kind of the point.. Banning the things that aren't finished kind of defeats the purpose...

last night i played a 3s with VL and they left me ALONE for over a hour in a small part of the galaxy. so around 1:20min time i had 13 Caps, a Titan, 30Enforcers, ALL Shield, Armor, Hull, And ALL Weapon damage upgrades.
by time i made it to my first opponent. he had 130 corvettes 2 or 3 caps and a titan. basically wiped and stripped his entire empire.in 15 minutes.
there is a point. there's nothing to be learned from balance when 70% of games i play i get rushed by VR orky in under 10 mins. yes its true it can be countered. but i don't start my games with building mass LRMs to do it. i expand, research ect.
the deal is they win to fast. tech needs moved then i have no issues with VR ( tho im sure there is more lmao )
The point there is to update VR then, not ban VR.
I see no point in banning something that is broken, if someone rolls VR and you don't want them too then tell them to reroll and if they wont kick them. But I have played VL and then VR and in my personal experience, apart from the mobile SB VR have, VL seemed more powerful to me, The ability to have 2 mili and civs labs on every capital and the ability to suck planets dry was very nice and hit opponents hard.
I've done this offline and online (me and 4 friends who always play this together) as VR and VL. One easy way to suck up someones planet is to send a horde of planet bombers at them with a couple colony frigates sitting behind, that combined with maxed bombing range tech and you can quickly snipe down a planet and then ninja it, following up by scuttling it for its juicy juicy resources. Now do that while you have a fleet off poking them in the side and you can snipe off their planets and get a tonne of resources in the process.
I don't do this as the norm but it occurred to me that it was worth trying. But I found all I needed was a barren planet and an ice planet and I generally had all the resources I could want. Stack the barren with trading hubs and ice with factories and a comm beacon. Then I had some crystal income and an area for production, and a massive credit income to buy what resources I needed or for use with pirates. As the manipulation tech was nice to bolster my gains from pirates. Or when we did a team game the large amount of credits was good for boosting relations.
Other then that I had 2 large fleets, with all purchased ranks at least (including rank tech), hitting them in different places and keeping them on the back foot. Now with VR I found I didn't have that ability, I had to build labs instead of trade ports or other structures, took an extended amount of time to build a nice structured fleet fit for taking enemy space. Sure the mobile star bases were a nice secondary titan and help when overwhelming defences or pushing a conflict in your favour. But compared to VL they just didn't seem to match up in aggressive power.
But I suppose its possible VR are for a different play style to mine, I like having large defences protecting my assets, without such a thing I tend to turtle but with VL It was with my fleet so I could just zip around draining planets. VR I couldn't get the speed as I had with VL and so ended up not being nearly as aggressive and having a rather hard fight on my hands when I got attacked.
While i dont think the Vasari rebels are entirly overpowered, the mobile starbase puts them way over the top. I like the mechanic a lot, but i think Orkys, that jump need to be weakened by somthing like 40% when in an enemy gravity well. That would posibly fix the issue. As for the Vas loyals, they dont start out all that strong, but thier end game is frekin rediculous! (read: really powerfull and really awesome and posibly a little op...BUT DONT CHANGE THEM!

Weird, so are people rushing Orkies in MP? Late to the party again.
To be honest it the orkys shouldn't be nerfd but make phasing jumping cause to stations systems to be offlined for like a minute after finishing a phase jump. Or make it an ability you have to tech for and then upgrade on the orky.

It's hard to judge if you were playing against AI cause AI opponents are severely mentally handicapped, if you know what I mean. Against an experienced human player it might have been a different story.
