Well, there is simple way to fix the planet omnomnom. Any planet that is under, say, 70% (example value) of loyalty cannot be core stripped. This means that you can strip the planets that are loyal to you, IE closer to home but prevent the wanton fagotry with the ninja planet eating from your enemy backyard.

So far i see this as the best balancing tool without actually nerffing anything else in the ability. You have to move your empire and eat there, you cant go and eat other peoples empire or near by. This way, there is speed limit of how fast you can actually eat planets from enemy territory, as you have to relocate capital, then colonies new planet near it, then eat it, and the radius of loyalty will be limited to 2 phase jumps.

Simple, yet elegant solution that will suit the lore as well.

Correct me if I'm misunderstanding but it seems like this conversation assumes that the VL player is always going completely mobile.  There's no rule in the book that says you 'must' use this ability to immediately ravage every single planet you come across, including your own.

Exactly!

You dont have to go all out mobile, you can eco up your part of space and at the same time use one or two caps to ninja whatever the enemy left unguarded or uncolonized, in 5 v 5 games, it really easy to harass enemy eco spot players with one cap if it is TEC or Advent. Send one cap and nuke all the mid map spots. Result is that enemy is gimped and you are sitting on big pile of cash that you can feed while having own, better, eco at home to help with war effort. TEC cant come even close to this level of economy this fast.

What if you play Last Capital Standing and cant relocate your capital?

Anyway, i think the point is to eat the planets as you go, not ad nausea rebuild your empire, only to scrap it later. Thats why IMHO tying the planet stripping ability to Titan is better solution, you cant start doing the thing until youve got the Titan and even then you can strip only planet at the time plus there can even be cooldown on the ability.

The game mode justified the imbalance of a race? A powerful counter argument, sir. If it is a last capital standing then you have no rights to eat planets other than your own. Period. It is not a game mod for roaming race.

No, but the game mode justifies further searching for another solution, which would work under said game mode. By your logic they could just disable the Vasari Loyalists completely from some game-modes, because oh, those are not modes for roaming races. And you mock ME by calling my argument "powerful"...

Give VL titan ability to act as a modifier when determining loyalty if you dont have capital and you have the titan capital tech.

Any colonized planet, if you dont have planet capital, will start at 50% loyalty (example values) if the titan was in gravity well at the moment of colonization, and will gradually climb to 100% if titan stays in gravity well. You can omnom the planet at 70% mark, you you have to wait the 20% climb before you strip core it.

Meaning that you can play the game mode with the vasati as it was really intended. Lose titty, game over.

Again, problem solved.

Now that is different talk, that may perhaps work. Still, it means, you require the Titan to be part of the stripping process, in which case, i like the idea of the Titan doing the stripping itself better....

Well, it IS part of it, and thus you must also risk it.

You can strip your own planets, but when you go visit your neighbor, he will most likely will be notified by your titan build, and will have time to retaliate while you wait for the loyalty to climb. Also, strong, and i mean FUCKSTRONG culture may safeguard your surroundings.
