Fortifier AI Bug

Has anyone challenged a fortifier AI? My friend and I just played a game against two normal AIs that were both fortifiers. It was a lot of fun. However, when we began our invasion, I noticed the AI's defenses were very lacking. Their planets were poorly defended. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it because they were normal AI? I was thinking even normal AI would still develop more defenses, but it didn't. Instead of being a defensive AI, they seemed to focus more on ship construction and sending everything they had at us (at our system).

We still enjoyed the game, but I wanted to mention this in case the fortifier AI needed some improvement.

I've tried playing with and against fortifier AI on both cruel and vicious dificulty, and every time I never encounted a single starbase, and not even ordinary defences on the when i played as it's ally.. wich is very wierd, since Agressive buillds tons of fortifications..

Perhaps, due to the Fortifier AI's lack of emphasis towards building ships, and lack of and emphasis on building population upgrades, it doesn't expand enough to get enough resources in order to actually build defenses?

Not realy, since they always has a huge fleet, and the game has been active for hours... however they at least in my experience they tend to assist you and focus a lot on envoys, far more than any other type Ive played with..

According to this, it should be building more than you reported.  Perhaps this was a fluke?  I'm assuming that those are all various weights as far as what it should do and it's more or less just an RNG as to what it chooses to do.  Regardless, is this a consistent issue you're having or no?

I really wish they'd fix the Advent homing mine thing.  AI just needs to stop building those squads, because they like sending in the most expensive non-cap ship in the game alone armed with...mines.  Fun if you have Corsev to steal them though.
