Well the new patch just broke compatibility with all maps not specifically for Rebellion. :'( So I'd say there probably aren't a lot of new maps available yet.

If you really need a new map the in game map designer can be used fairly quickly, and the new Galaxy Forge is already in your Sins Steamapp directory.

The dev's stated they are planning a map pack release in a future update. It remains to be seen though...

Well there is the officially supported map upload place, Wincustomize, though it can be a pain to search with all the outdated maps on there.

There is also a community supported multiplayer map pack that has lots of great maps in one place. If it gets updated that's probably the best thing to get.

and I am also working om my map updater that will be able to convert the older sins maps (mapversion 0,1,2 & 3) to the new mapversion 4. but at present it is converting approx 90% of maps. the maps that are giving me the most issues are the ones with planetownerisrace, but can not figure out why unless it is to do with the rebel/loyalist name extensions which would be a PITA, and would cause those maps to be manually edited.

I know you can't use Player_Tech, Player_Psi etc. anymore. Those are not considered races anymore. You need to make a group for both the subfactions even if you'd really want them to be identical.

In that case, I'd love to get my hands on your Map Updater as it stands now since I've never used the "Planet Owner Is Race" setting.

It hasn't work right for the last two versions (for different reasons), so it will only break on maps made by people who knew to edit them in notepad, which is still mostly the realm of modding gurus.
