[Bug 1.02] Enduring devotion does not keep planet after wail

Not sure if this was an intentional or not, but JJBuck2 saw that Enduring devotion does not keep a planet under your control after using Wail of the Sacrifice (first reported here ).   I tested this myself with a fully populated desert planet and got the same result.

Edit: just to clarify, I did have the tech researched and had it on the starbase in the same gravity well.  I did not test whether losing the planet to bombardment produces a similar result.

As far as I'm concerned, the buffInstantActionType "MakeDead" should bypass SB's....not doing so severely limits modding capabilities...if the devs want something that doesn't bypass enduring devotion, then I hope they use a different buffInstantActionType instead of changing how MakeDead works...

Well, as long as it keeps it current damage level, loosing the planet is an acceptable price.

Any real nerf to the damage level would make it useless... especially for a level 7 ability that can normally only be fielded in the late game.

It is basically worthless on Asteroids already.

Ohh and a rework of the graphics would be awesome! Right now the enemies sees nothing but exploding ships... a nice graphic in the wells that are hit would be fantastic. The effect on the planet it is used is fine!

It used to NOT bypass Enduring Devotion though. Now something has changed that allows it to do so. I'm not entirely against this as Wail is pretty OP if you don't actually lose the planet, but it did change and it wasn't in the change notes, which leads/led me to believe it was an unintentional change.

As to Wail itself, I think it needs a couple things.

1) Warning and/or notification that it has been used

2) Some kind of delay of the damage. This could be a straight up wait period before the damage hits the surrounding planets (maybe some sort of wave animation that travels down phase lanes) or it could be having Wail do DOT to adjacent grav wells. Something like 40 damage/sec for a number of secs = to 1/2 population of planet using Wail. Same amount of damage, could theoretically give time to run and/or keep some ships alive through repairs.

You may see the novalith come to adopt the same use of MakeDead so it could also bypass SBs...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I'm fine if I have to keep a colony frigate in the grav well before jumping, jiving, and wailing.  I just think it's odd that it wasn't in the change logs so I reported it as a bug (I also think it's odd that the change logs aren't stickied and titans keep their levels, but maybe I'm the one that's crazy).

Seleuceia, that possibility would be a huge buff to TEC if it were implemented since the Coronata's planet stealing ability doesn't work on homeworlds.

It would be a huge buff no doubt...I really don't actually know what the devs are going to do with superweapons, though I think it'd be funny if the novalith made use of the MakeDead instant action...

I think even I would join the Novalith hating club if they did that. They should remove the trade/max population debuff entirely if they did that.

I know I will be modding it to use the MakeDead instant action, but the limit will also be 1 (can you tell I don't play with Capital victory???)....

I only play with capital and/or flagship victory these days... :S

I actually kind of like this though. Maybe add it to the Novalith Deregulation upgrade for the TEC Loyals? Probably would need, as Goa pointed out, a nerf in some other way though.
