Solution to Corvette rush - change starbase hull damage

Looking at the discussion of corvette rush issues, it sounds like the main problem is that the ships which perform best against corvettes are slower than corvettes, thus, the corvettes can just run past your ships, killing assembly drones etc., until you throw up your hands and try to build more corvettes.  This gave me an idea.

Make ships leaving a gravwell with a hostile starbase take 250-300 hull damage (exact number could be adjusted) instead of the 33% hull damage they take now.  This would prevent hostile corvettes from freely running around your systems, forcing them to either retreat or fight.  For frigates and cruisers, the change wouldn't be too different from what it is now, and while capitals+titans would be less affected, the loss of all antimatter would still be a serious deterrent against them moving around freely.

Like it?  See any problems?

Corvette deep strikes should be an option, but this would make it downright impossible, not to mention the fact that it would make it infeasible for an Advent player to bypass your starbase in a neutral well to go after your actual empire for fear of losing their Guardians.

This is by no means a good counter to corvette rush, because corvettes are available at the very start of the game and starbases are very expensive, so people can still easily overwhelm those with a massive amount of corvettes early on.

Corvettes just need to be nerfed in some way. Possibly the best solution is to just remove their speed advantage, since then they would be more easily destructable by light frigates and other kinds of ships, while still remaining useful by being very cost -and damage effective.

I stick with making them Strikecraft. Put them where normal strikecraft are, onto Carriers.

They still have to be researched, they are sort of a hybrid fighter/bomber, but in turn are much much slower, and ofc only one. So they are exposed to more fire, but a bit more durable and more versatile. They should sit squarely in the middle of the SC-balance.

I always win against corvette rushers. I usually play TR and dont put money into a fleet without first discovering what the enemy is spamming. If corvettes as it usually is... flak easily wins and with two combat caps i quickly take the upper hand. I dont really see any major problem with corvettes except that fighters are slower than them which should def. be changed.

True, if you see them coming (which isn't all that easy due to how fast and cheap they are) they're easy to defend against. But in turn I can "exploit" this, by baiting you with Corvettes so you sink money into Flaks.

If Stardock had balanced them like so many experienced players had suggested the little sob's wouldn't be so OP.
