PC System Resources Not Utilized?

So I've noticed that later in game slows down (~6-15 fps) XD   while playing with my friend who masses fighter/bomber wings. At first I thought my system just wasn't able to handle it which was surprising since I have a 2.2Ghz quad-core. But after playing with my second monitor enabled (with system monitors not the game), I noticed that during the slowdown of my 8 hyperthreaded cores, only 1 was being utilized more than 50% at any given time and it ranged from 50%-80% never 100%, all the other cores never went above 30%. My graphics card never went above 30%. Overclocking the GPU only reduced the load on the GPU and increasing/decreasing the graphics settings only increase/decreased the load on the GPU but would not affect framerate. This would happen when I loaded a saved game after he had built up his fleet and tried to play alone so it doesn't seem like a networking issue.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? I was under the impression that Rebillion has an improved graphics engine. I dont mind if the game is slow because my system can't handle it, but it's really bothering me that I have to deal with the slow-down because my system isnt being fully utilized  #:( . Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have the newest nVidia Drivers installed...and even tried disabling HT and or lowering my cores to just 2 to see if that would help out the single core that was being taxed since it automatically overclocks itself more that way, but nothing helped. I mean with low graphics on at some points I would even see the GPU automatically down down to 2D clock settings because it was so under utilized, and even then it only hit 50% utilization...Why is the game slowing down for no apparent reason??? any help or validation of my problem would be greatly appreciated! I LOVE this game! just wish I could enjoy the gameplay the way it was intended at a comfortable framerate

Most your later game slowdown/lag is all CPU based.

The game is a single core game. So thats why you see one core going full speed the rest chilling.

The game isnt super graphical intensive as it is CPU intensive.

The fighter/bomber spam is one of the worse things for the game, since it trackes each unit and Strikecraft come in squads which vary on race.

You can tweak your settings to reduces all the extra graphics which might help.

Keeping a clean and very small Empire Tree will also help.

If you get really gun ho, create a mod reducing Trade port ships/refinery ships/and Strikecraft.

Yea, I've thought of that...but like I said, the single maxed core is rarely at 100%. The usage looks the same from the early parts of the game when it runs at 60fps and late when I'm down to 6fps. I see almost no connection between slowdown and system usage. Only thing that goes up as the game progresses is RAM usage on my graphics card. It goes from ~300MB to 800MB but my card has 2GB so it's not even close to using it all. I'm just at a complete loss as to what's going on. I can shut down my CPU to just use 1 core which will have it automatically overclock to 3.1Ghz but I doubt it will have much affect as with 2 cores I was already pushing 2.8-2.9Ghz without any impact when compared to running the game with all 4 cores at 2.2-2.5Ghz. Also forgot to mention that my system RAM is 12GB of DDR3 ram and it doesn't use much of that either but I get it since this is a 32-bit game.
