Trim fleet tree to basic as possible
reducing resolution size may help, not always
same with high res model settings, depends on your gpu
sins only uses a single core so may want to learn what apps to put on what core.
Basic maintenance ...keep a clean machine: defrag, close backround programs.....
If you are willling to use a mod (for SP play), reducing the number of SC per squadron and possibly reducing the number of cargo ships per trade port/refinery may also help...that of course does affect gameplay and would require other concurrent changes for maintaining balance, but I figured I'd at least mention it....
Does it really only use one core? Is there a reason for this as I thought even the lowest end gaming pc's at least use 2
I prefer to stay away from mods for now.
All basic/advanced maintenance is done regularly as well as disabling every non-needed program when gaming
So pretty much only thing I can do is a new comp?
It's not your PC, it is the game...the engine used by Sins is single-threaded...understand that engine was released with the original sins in 2008, and propably was in development for 3 or so years before then...so we are looking at a 7 year old engine, and 7 years ago there just was no reason to make such a game multi-threaded...
Having a processor with decent processing per core is simply a must to run a game like this at it's best...
Sorry What I meant was given that the lowest end gaming PC's use dual core then wouldn't any game be build for that but if it's been 7 odd years in making than I suppose so, Is there any plans to make a patch that utilises further cores? (no idea if that's even possible )
Ok so besides getting a higher clockspeed per core on next CPU and probably a higher cache too, Would putting it on a SSD help at all? and would there be any sort of RAM limit for this game?
Nope, the devs have flatly refused. It would be easier and cheaper to make a Sins 2.
Not sure about SSD though as part of the game's issues is that it loads EVERYTHING! all at once but it is limited to 2 gigs due to 32 bit architecture.
And no, no plans of change and don't even start with LAA.
Not much I can do then except upgrading the CPU, any news of there actually being a sins 2 or new expansion and whether this will use more cores/ram?
There's also this option, though he needs to update it since it doesn't work well with the game's 1.04 update.
