Why is Sins running smoother in windowed mode then full screen?

Hi,

Curious if anyone knows a cause or remedy.

Title pretty much says it all. I max the window in size so there can't be that much of a difference in resolution but in frames it either runs silky smooth in windowed mode(so i'm guessing 60+ fps) or on the border of being annoying say 20 in fullscreen. I would expect it to run better in fullscreen then windowed and not the other way arround :/.

Thx for any replies.

When you run in windowed mode, is it still "full screen" ie the window is the size of your screen?  If the window you use is smaller, it is conceivable that is why it runs better...

Yep it's windowed and the size is maximised to cover the entire monitors. The difference in performance is really really big.

I'm suspecting it's because of the crossfire setup(2 x ATI 7950). It seems when I run Sins full screen both gpu's are working. On average something like 70% and 50%. When I run windowed only 1 gpu is used which is running at something like 30%.

I'm going to disable 1 gpu tomorrow and try to run it fullscreen and see how it performs then. I'll post my findings tomorrow. Does anyone else have problems with multi gpu's?

Could this be the cure to sins bad performance?

Could this end all of the hate mail and request for multi core rendering?

Could this be the final solution to the decade year old debate about how to improve sins performance?

uhm nope didn't make much difference :(. Windowed still runs smoother. I give up, I'll just play it windowed then.
